It is supposed to be healthier for you to poop that way. I have seen various articles on it and run into those toilets a lot in my work. First time was in Kazakhstan when those were the only type of toilets we had on the crew. Doing your business like that apparently requires a degree of coordination that I don't have and I'll spare you the details beyond that. Suffice to say, I was very happy to get into town, after 2 weeks, and use a set down crapper!

They make an elevated version of the one in the video that seems to work well. Don't try squatting on a regular throne however, they are not designed to take weight concentrated in that manner and have been done to break causing some really nasty injuries to people's backsides.

The washing instead of toilet paper is supposed to be better for you than using TP but I cheated on that part (coordination thing again).

It may be better for you than sitting but I'll take a traditional throne anytime.

I wonder how many people in the West could even squat like that if they tried?
Ye shall know them by their fruits.

Squatting is easy, getting back up is hard. And keep in mind you have to squat, do your business, wash yourself using both hands and do all this without getting your clothes wet/dirty. Like I said, it calls for a degree of coordination that I don't have.

And if you use that time for reading as some of us do, reading and squatting seems like a challenge.

I know, I know, "Grok didn't have a sit down toilet". Get over it....

Reading on the toilet always mystified me. When I go to sit down on the toilet, it's because I have to poop. A good push and I'm done. No time to delve into Proust.

I've been practicing my asian squats just about every day and I still can't do it without hanging onto something. Nevermind trying to release anything in that position!

Well I have been ready for a Nature's Platform for a good long time. Only problem is I've been in roommate situations for the past couple years and well you know how that can be.

Graphic pictures on this link about what can happen when you squat on a standard toilet seat. They do make adapter type rigs so that you can squat over your toilet without hurting yourself.

GRAPHIC PICTURES! (you have been warned)

The Funtoosh Page....Have Fun Bath !!!: Due to use of the squat toilet seat
