Alright well I'm going back to doing P90X and a good portion of their workouts have pullups. Now since I live in a one bedroom dorm, I don't have room for anything that will let me do pullups (including the door pullup devices). So is there something I can do that can replicate the same movements as a pullup with dumbbells or even just bodyweight? I don't want to have to skip these exercises altogether. Thanks

You could get a set of bands and do pulldowns and rows with them. You'll just have to find a place to secure them and get some heavy resistance bands.

You can do bodyweight rows but you'll need something to do them off of.

Why can't you get a door pullup device? What about your closet? Pullups are an incredible excersise and I would encourage you to try to figure something out.

Does your college have a gym? A big tree outside?

Does your school not have a gym you could use?

Do you have sturdy bunk beds?

Hold onto the edge of the frame of the top bunk, rest your feet either on the bed below (head sticking out over the floor) and do some practically-horizontal rows.

Do you have any stairwells? Maybe use the support railings on the flight above you. LIke, walk down the stairs, across the landing and partially down the next flight just until you can reach the bars of the landing above. Does that make sense? It'll be more of a strict pull up though b/c of the grip angle.

Maybe you have some good trees?

Rack chins - you'd be surprised how effective they can be - improvise.

If you have weights bent over rows will work. Not quite the same angle but very effective.

No, I'm not in college, I'm in the military. I'm basically going to be living in a single occupancy hotel room for the next 8 months. No closets, just "chests", not into bands either. Had them before, ironically used them for "pull downs" and ended up snapping them and causing a nice size bruise near my crotch. Since then, I avoid them. Just looking for something for weights. I'll just do the bent over rows, was just looking for other exercises. I don't need to do pullups nor do I care to improve upon them right now but I also don't just want to sit around while they go through the pullup exercises in the workout.

    Hmmmmm..... "pull up".....

    That's an adult diaper, right?

That's the only context that I know that word in.

    Not mine, my mother's.

Iron woody makes some good bands that i doubt would break.

You could make something that could allow you to do bodyweight rows.

Keep in mind if you crank out the chest and shoulders and slack on the pull movements, you will create a muscle imbalance which increases chance of pain and injury and just plain looks bad.
