This is probably the best place to ask. I've been considering a vasectomy so that my wife can get off of the hormonal stuff. She's been taking it for about 15 years because she has some pretty gnarly cramps, but they have reduced significantly since she's started primal. I'm seeing a pretty high amount of people stating a loss of testosterone, and that kind of scares me.

Basically, I want to undergo a permanent procedure so that she can stop taking the pills. I guess advice would be awesome. I would assume a vasectomy is pretty contraindicated as primal, but so are the pills.

It's not chemical or hormonal, so that's good. By my age (late 40s) A LOT of guys have had it done. I rarely hear about anything other than minor problems, generally when they try to climb a flight of stairs or go back to work the next day instead of waiting a bit. Just try and talk to some of your friends about what doctor they used and if they had good results.

And absolutely go back to have your sperm checked. A friend of mine's husband was still potent a year and a half later, and now they have one more kid than they had intended. Bizarre, but her family is even in the biz, and it does happen, though rarely. Once you have the all clear, it's all good.

+1 to the vasectomy. As a single girl not interested in children, infertile but able is a turn-on.

Also +1 to the waiting and checking. Not a nice surprise!

Thanks for the advice. I'm in my early 30's. The wife is in her mid 30's. We haven't had kids yet, and don't plan to. I figure I'm likely at less risk for low T due to eating Paleo/primal anyway, so I'll give it a go.

Find a doctor that does the no scalpel vasectomy, it reduces healing time and the chance of infection. My fiancee had it done and was back to work in three days.

Maybe a combo of more sex + more healthy body = super fertile because now I'm pregnant and too sick-feeling to want sex.


But yeah, primal = supercharged libido.


It might be dangerous to combine sex and bacon though! Look out!
