    So business first...Yesterday was my first "Up Day"

    SW 2/26/13 =274.8
    CW=267 down 1.8
    Sleep= 7:30 92% efficiency
    Urine Ketones= gonna wait till the FBS comes down
    Blood Ketones= not today-waiting for FBS to drop
    FBS= 96 lowest it has been since I started checking.
    Calories = no idea
    Net Carbs =
    Fat=
    Protein=
    Steps = 10,651 with 23 "flights" of stairs and that is with 6 hours sitting in the car!

    Yesterday was my first "Up Day" and yes, Ruth is right, it felt good! I did not bother to track because I ate 2 meals out and that would be too much estimating to even come close to being accurate, so I will post my food here. It was neither low carb, nor low calorie, nor moderate protein.

    Breakfast: My BP Matcha = 2T HWC, 1T butter, 1tsp matcha, stevia, water. Then in the car I brought a Double Green Tea with 2T of HWC and stevia.
    Lunch: 2 eggs scramble with spinach and asparagus, crab and havarti. 2.5" square of a fantastic bisquit with Tupulo honey dripped over it
    Dinner: jerked salmon over a bed of greens with a caper vinaigrette, 5 tortilla chips with green chili dip.
    Snack:Red Velvet Tea with 2T HWC stevia, 1/4C pistachios (I think I was looking for the salt)

    We left at 6:30 so DS slept the whole way there. We had a fantastic 1 hour meeting with the director of the Honor's Program. He and DS had a wonderful conversation about how DS foresees giving back to society through college and after. I think it helped to move the pendulum toward my first choice for him! Then we went to lunch downtown and ate on the patio of the restaurant on the corner of the town square. The food was amazing and the weather was perfect and the people watching was hilarious. We sat there for almost 2 hours and chatted a lot about college and what he was looking for what he was afraid of what he was excited about. It was lovely! Then we did a tour of the Engineering building with 2 students from the department, one of which was also an Honor's student so we were able to get some pretty detailed answers to questions we had that others couldn't answer. Again the weather was perfect for roaming around outside. Then we picked up DD and went to dinner. She is so animated it is always fun to sit and chat with her. She and DS went through some reminiscences about a particular camp (it was their church "sex camp" attended the summer after their 8th grade year) and we could not stop laughing. DD is on a committee bringing "Sex Week" to the campus (you may have seen it derided on "Fox News" if you watch it), it is about education and open dialogue, Fox is upset because of some of the speakers at some of the lectures. Anyway we hung out for a couple of hours chatting and laughing, then we drove home. All in all I could not have asked for a better day. Well except it would be nice if DH could join us for days like that, but alas his relationship with the kids is not as casual as mine, it would have been a very different discussion.

    The UDDD is going to work well for my trip to Texas. Today is a DD, and then Monday, then my next one is a driving day, which will be easier I think. Then Friday which will be spent in tours and meetings all day. So this week should be covered. Traveling with Dh next week may throw a wrench in things but that only encompasses 1DD, so I should be able to work it out.

    ok, so far so good today, which is my first Down Day. I am "supposed" to have 450 calories today. If I stay on track with my planning I will go just over that at like 460 (I put almond milk in my tea, I will skip that next time).

    I just finished the treadmill, and am having a cup of tea. I will take a shower when I have finished that and then make my breakfast smoothie. I think one of the keys to my down days is going to be to be present when I eat, so my brain is on the same page as my body. So I will sit down to drink my smoothie. I am modifying it for the DD.

    I ordered some konjac noodles (I gave my last batch to DD and forgot about them). I like them and they will be a great plate filler on my down days. Add in some cabbage and shrimp and I will have a very large plate of very low cal/low carb dinner. The JUDDD food porn thread has some great ideas, as well as some "no freakin way I would eat that" ideas too, luckily I am smart enough to figure out the difference.

    I will not be going off into some strange food land doing this, my basic principles of real food will remain (I dunno, I guess as long as you count konjac noodles as real). I will not be chowing down on cakes and cookies and junk on my Up days. I will stay pretty low carb as I feel best that way and I don't miss grains at all. I may try some of the occasional desserts that I have not had "room" for on my regular plans (stevia sweetened cheesecake-no crust- comes to mind).

    To remind myself...2250 Up Days, and 450 Down Days. I may eventually do as Sabine does and just IF on Down Days or maybe 1 of the Down Days a week anyway.

    Sleep= 6:05 90% efficiency
    Urine Ketones= gonna wait till the FBS comes down

    FBS= Rats, totally forgot to take it until I had already had half of my morning tea.
    Calories = 494
    Net Carbs = 8g/7%
    Fat= 41g/76%
    Protein= 21g/17%
    Steps = 8818 yesterday was a lot more standing than walking

    So yesterday was my first "Down Day". It was reasonably easy. Maybe because I knew I had a "Up Day" coming today. Or because I stayed busy. Or because I drank a lot of fluids.

    Funny that my scale loss was greater from the up day than the down day.

    We went to a St. Patty's Day party last night. It was quite nice. We ate dinner before we went. So I had water while I was there, and not a single bite of food. There was only a brief moment of regret about this when they brought out the shepherd's pie. When done well it is one of my favorites. But since high school, when my BFF's mom-who was Irish immigrated from Ireland- made it regularly and was the best I ever had I usually just pine for hers. None other has been as good. So I savored the memory and went on with my conversation.

    So I met a new faculty member and his wife. And we were chatting, you know the general get to know ya stuff...where you from, how many kids, etc. So she tells me about her kids (she had 5, youngest 28) and asks me about mine. And I said yes I had 2 and she said "oh, I miss having little ones". I said "yes me too". She asked how old mine were and when I told her she said "Oh, my I had assumed you had little ones, you can't possibly be old enough to have college age children." And I told her that was sweet and she was like "no, really, did you all start having your children before you got married?" (I had already told her we had gotten married when I was 31 because she had mentioned how "old" her single daughter was). I just chuckled and told her not only did we not start early, I was kind of late to the party and was in my mid 30's when we had our kids. She just was flabbergasted. Now I do often get comments that I look young for my age, but she was truly surprised. I think it was the lighting or maybe she forgot her glasses. At any rate she made my night!

    Hurray for Primal beauty!

    Last night at the show, my theater friends kept stopping me and saying how beautiful I looked. I had only lost 5 lbs since I saw them last.

    It is the glow from the inside, I tell ya, the weight is really irrelevant in this regard!
