I think your mask idea is genius.
Thanks for the info. I'll check out that site. I currently add coconut oil to my coffee and actually don't mind the "oil slick". But I hear MCT oil gives more of an energy boost and may help with getting into ketosis. I haven't tried cocoa nibs yet, but sounds good.
Thanks again. I enjoy all the information you share and all the research you do. It has been very helpful to me.
I think your mask idea is genius.
thanks to you both!
The first time I used the mask, I was dipping cake balls in chocolate, there were little dots of chocolate all over the mask from where I had tried to lick my fingers. Kind of gross when you think about the fact that I was serving them to friends and family. Although to be fair, my fingers didn't actually touch the cake balls, I would get the chocolate on my fingers from the toothpick that I used to push the ball off the fork.
Thanks for the tip, and take care!
Hi! Essentially (know that I am no scientist or specialist) the MCT (medium chain triglycerides) is what gives coconut oil (which is 66% MCT-thanks wikipedia) its healthy properties. "Studies have shown that MCT's can help in the process of excess calorie burning & thus weight loss" (again wikipedia)
Basically the same reasons that you would use coconut oil, are the reasons you would use MCT's the MCT, from my perspective is much more pleasant in the BP tea, I can't stand the oil slick on top. And when I get it from AllStarHealth is doesn't cost any more than the coconut oil.
I do still use coconut oil for cooking, I like to mix up my sources (ie, I don't like to use one source for all my fats, and one source for all my protein, etc.), I think variety helps give me a more complete nutrition picture.
p.s. I actually use the MCT in my smoothie, and the coconut oil just clumps up in cold things and I find it disgusting there. I usually drink a tea with butter and HWC at 5:30am, then the smoothie at 7:30am, lunch is usually around 2:30. I could go longer but then I tend to over eat at lunch if I do.
ok, I made it through the making of the cake with no tasting! Now I just have to make it through making the whipped cream topping tomorrow.

So yesterday was sort of weird. First I went to the grocery store and while there tried to find either Knorr or Herb-ox bouillon cubes. It was Kroger. But they had neither. They had Wylers, second ingredient was sugar. So I passed. I will have to run to Publix this weekend. Rats.
Second, late yesterday afternoon the skin on my legs started to sting. At first I thought it was just because my skin was so dry (I have horrible problems with this in the winter), but it turned out it was a rash. Took benadryl before bed and now it is gone, and so is most of the stuff that has been on my face for over 6 months. So now I gotta figure out what the heck I am doing/eating/taking that might be the issue.
I figured out yesterday that I salt so much of my food that I do use almost a tsp of salt, so I added that on to my MFP, that may be the reason I have not had too many issues, between using salted butter and the tsp of salt and what naturally occurs in foods I was already getting a pretty good amount.
good girl with the cake!!
Rash?? Hmmm.. it makes you wonder about an allergy or intolerance. Don't eliminate more than one thing at a time though so you can pin point it.
I will be interested in your salt sensitivity study.
