How on earth do you keep your stove clean eating this way?

Seriously. My stove is covered in grease after one meal... not to mention my range hood, cupboards and floor. I love me some bacon and eggs or veggies and meat sauteed in butter, but my kitchen looks like, well, like crap. And I don't want to use heavy duty detergents to clean up all the time. What do ya'll do? Or am I the only one with a grease problem. :-)

Funny, I was just gonna google this. I have a stainless cooktop that's covered in spatters. I was thinking possibly white vinegar and water in a spray bottle, but I need to research that.

    I have a wife.

Kidding! Well, I do, but she doesn't clean up my messes (and no, I could not get a refund)

Lots of dish soap and water and more dish soap and water. Sometimes softscrub.

The vinegar and water is a great idea, and for the stuff that is a little thicker/more greasy for that to happily handle, try a Mr Clean magic eraser. We recently used that for the walls around the stove that had to be cleaned and prepped for repainting, and it did a great job.

Hah! I just broke down and cleaned the top of mine tonight. I really should have done it yesterday but it didn't get done. I use hot water and dishsoap and give it a quick wipe over with a cloth and leave it wet for a minute. Then I rinse the cloth with hot water and wipe it again. That's usually good enough unless there's baked-on stuff, in which case, I lay a hot, wet cloth over the spot for longer to soften the crud. As a last resort, I use a plastic scrubbie or an sos pad.

This is a big nuisance to me. One thing I am doing lately is having a couple of dishcloths folded and damp. One by the stove. I keep rubbing before the stuff hardens. I've been doing this for about a week and it makes me feel better. Then, I can clean it with soap or some Eco spray when I feel like it.

The floor is harder I keep a broom beside the fridge and just recently put my mop where I can see it. This helps me do the floor before it gets really disgusting.

The DH mops up too. He's much more likely to join in with two dishcloths right where he can see them. I am the cook these days but for the first 15 years of our marriage, he was. I liked that. But, this way I get to guide the nutrition! But I'm also the one mopping up as I cook. He would clean it but... I have to wait til he's reDy and I'd rather work in a clean kitchen...
