    Any Primal suggestions for a liquid diet?

    Primal Fuel
    Dh just got diagnosed with diverticulitis today, and has been placed on a liquid diet for the next 3 days. I have some good bone broth in the crockpot as we speak, but other than that, I'm coming up short. My mil can do some shopping for us (I'm on bedrest & can't go to the store), so she can get some stuff, but I don't know what to tell her to get. This would be at a regular grocery store, not like Whole Foods or Trader Joe's, so choices are a little more limited than if I could go and do it myself.

    So far, I was thinking that organic juices (at least they're not grain carbs), gelatin made with fruit juice not sugar & crap flavoring, that bone broth I have, maybe some coconut milk or coconut milk smoothies (I have 2 cans, right now). He cannot tolerate dairy, so that is out. Any other ideas?

    Gazpacho! I just made some the other night, it was delicious. Just whir whatever vegetables he likes in a blender. I used heirloom tomato, persian cucumber, and garlic. I garnished it with avocado chunks, but you could probably just blend that in too.

    I recently made a smoothie with coconut milk, blueberries and cantaloupe, and it was the most delicious thing ever!

    That does sound good, Lucy! I ran it past him, so we'll see. He does like the sound of my broth, and maybe with veggies cooked soft & whizzed up in the blender with it (kinda liquid chicken soup). He also doesn't like the idea of jello, but maybe gelatin made with no-sugar-added fruit juice, so that he gets a decent flavor but no sugar. I guess, if we have to, I have some white rice, so I could also make some and buzz that up for him, too, if he got really really hungry or something. But, we both consider than an extremely last resort.

    Green smoothies? Spinach (or other green) + fruit of choice + coconut milk and/or avocado and water as needed, sometimes a dash of stevia if needed, and blend. Maybe a hemp protein powder or just throw nuts/nut butter in a blender for additional protein in a fruit/veg smoothie? Oh, and you can always throw raw eggs in the smoothie if he is ok w/ eggs.

    I've used hypoallergenic rice protein powder (not primal) b/c of dairy intolerance issues. Not so easy to find at the local grocer though! I like the idea of making a thick soup--blend up veg, meat and your bone broth. I think that would be yummy...

    Sorry I don't have more ideas!

    Ouch, that sucks! When I had my braces put in, I nearly starved on all liquids. That was the only time of my life I volounterily ate tofu (soft in smoothies).

    I make a smoothie with avocado, berries, eggwhites and cinnamon. I would also try to puree any soup, or maybe even beef or chicken livers, the way they do for baby food.

    coconut milk smoothies with unflavored protein (you can throw down some fruit or go green)
    also check out the recipe forum for my protein pudding/mousse. I eat it on the days I go to dentist and get numbed up.
    Oh and don't forget baked custards. Soft, delicious, hot food. Look up thai pudding (basically it's a coconut milk custard)

    I've had my wisdom teeth out and another dental surgery in recent history, and I discovered how awesome pureed soups are. I've made soup with cauliflower and asparagus, even cabbage and celery (I thought I hated celery). Just cooked the veggie and then pureed with chicken stock and seasoned. I'm sure any fat/protein you added in there would just exacerbate the deliciousness.
