i love SF but what about portland?
If you like a laid-back vibe, San Diego is awesome. I lived in San Francisco for 10 years, and loved it. Great little city, plus lots of activity. But, after a year in San Diego I'm more drawn to this place. The outdoors is more accessible, the vibe more laid-back, but still lots of activities going on. The weather is awesome too...even better than the bay. Then again, if you like a bit of gloom, San Francisco gets that cool summer fog...

I'm in a similar boat as you and have narrowed it down to Seattle or Vancouver with Portland 3rd
Victoria B.C.
Born and raised here. Spent four years in Texas for college, and really came to appreciate how fortunate I am to have grown up here, and to be able to call it home now.
Less rainy/cloudy then either Vancouver or Seattle, Downtown is becoming more and more vibrant, as more young people move back to take the government jobs the baby boomers are retiring from. The tech industry here is alive and well. AS well as government jobs, and university related fields.
Not to mention the insane amount of outdoor green space and access to oceans, mountains etc.. I really love it here.
Miami FL
Hmmmm...tech/gov jobs...sounds like I need to move the family out there! We discussed living within close proximity to the ocean a while ago. Sounds like that's my kind of place to live.
I grok, therefore I am.
ooooo I second the Victoria BC. My dad tried to name me after it because he loved it so much. It's smaller though and not quite as lively as the other cities people have mentioned.
At the risk of offending your NYC sensibilities, SS, might I throw Chicago into the mix?
Ideally, the city would
[li]not be small - check[/li]
[li]not require me to drive - check[/li]
[li]would have a good and diverse night-life - check[/li]
[li]decent culture - check[/li]
[li]and a wide range of services - check[/li]
[li]I don't mind cold weather - check[/li]
But it's Chicago.....
Cold with wind.
"How do you want your potato?"
"Um, do you have any vegetables?"
"I'll go ask the cook."
My memory of Chicago, repeated many times, when I was there for a month for training in 1984. And I wasn't even paleo/primal. SO appreciative of the ethnic restaurants. SO glad to get back to SoCal.....
For me, it's the Bay Area - San Francisco, San Jose, Santa Clara, Mountain View, and all the other communities that are centered on San Francisco Bay.
Primal eating in a nutshell: If you are hungry, eat Primal food until you are satisfied (not stuffed). Then stop. Wait until you're hungry again. Repeat.
