    What is the quickest way to lose weight without putting on any more mass?

    Hey guys, I am looking to drop weight (as are a lot of people here) but I am really not wanting to gain any more muscle mass. I've lifted weights for years, and even when I don't lift for long periods of time, my body holds on to most of the mass I gain. I've gotten away from lifting so much b/c of joint pain in my elbows, shoulders, and knees, and honestly, I don't really want any more mass- I can't fit into some of my shirts as it is!

    So, which exercises do you think would be good for losing weight without gaining mass? Sprints? Yoga? I have some ideas in mind, just want to tap into some knowledge that you all have! Thanks!

    You don't need to exercise to lose weight. Exercise for fitness. Eat to lose weight.

    Diet is for weight loss.
    Lifting is for muscles.

    They really don't interact *that* much.

    However, walking is important. Search Google for "The Best Damn Cardio Article" on T-Nation and you'll get a fairly primal explanation of things.

    Strength train to maintain muscle and eat to drop fat. OR don't do something to preserve muscle, have a calorie deficit, and lose your muscle which is an epic fail!

    Diet, Diet, Diet. Fasting, but as far as workout goes, get out of the gym! Pullups, pushups, dips, lunges up a hill, use all bodyweight, it will keep your muscles strong and burn fat, using your body weight wont be enough stress to have the muscles grow any larger, but will also come with post oxidization which eats fat like a monster, sprints, swimming, yoga for sure stretch out all those big muscles. Hike for hours. but make sprints your friend, short rests period will burn more fat.
