    Thumbs up After 50, how fast you run a mile is a better indicator than...

    ...almost every other well known health metric (blood pressure, cholesterol, etc.). Made me go out and see how fast I could run a mile (first lap 1:52, second lap 2:00, third lap 2:08, then knowing I could suffer serious diagnosis trauma should I not pick up the pace...last lap 1:54 for a total mile time of 7:54! YAY!). And all this while still carrying 25-35 more pounds than I should. Here's a link to an article on the study for those who missed it:

    I beleive it. I think I would have failed a year ago. Crossfit fixed that!

    On the other had, too many runners drop dead suddenly. So avoid the "chronic cardio". Archevore - Archevore Blog -

    That's pretty good. I think you'd be above average in a current middle school P.E. class. (scary)

    Grip strength is another good proxy health.
