    Primal Fuel

    Age (If you want): 29


    How Primal are you: Not really primal right now, but working on it through the info on this forum and MDA.


    Do you consume dairy: Yes, although i'd like to go strict primal and paleo (is there a difference?). I'm currently on Mark Rippetoe's Starting Strength program and he recommends to drink a gallon of milk a day (GOMAD) in addition to your other meals, not as a substitute. I couldn't handle that much milk.


    Do you drink coffee or tea: both, although normally without sugar. I drink coffee with half and half mostly.


    Motivator for switching to Primal: better body composition. I'm currently walking around at 16% body fat and would like to get that down to about the 10-12%range.


    Favorite exercise: lifting heavy stuff on my back (squatting)


    Favorite Primal food: steak and bacon


    Best part about being Primal: substituting rice with more steak


    Worst part about being Primal: Double quarter pounders with cheese just aren't the same without the buns and the cheese.

    How Primal are you: About 80% for the last three weeks. 60% for a couple of months previous


    Do you consume dairy: Yes, mainly parmesan, crumbled blue or feta cheese.


    Do you drink coffee or tea: Too much coffee. Use as s substitute for a previous heavy smoking habit.


    Motivation for switching to Primal: The science makes sense. Vanity to get rid of the little but persistent Dale Bivens roll of fat around my belly resulting from my previous heavy smoking habit.


    Favorite exercise: Bicycling.


    Favorite Primal food: Steak


    Best part about being Primal: I felt better instantly, I get to eat good food cooked in oils and sauces that make it taste better, and I lost 5 lbs of belly fat in a week.


    Worst part about being Primal: I love Pasta. However, I have learned to replace with thin strands of zuccini and squash using Benrinder Cooks Helper slicer, as recommended by someone on this forum.

    Do you drink coffee or tea: 1 cup of coffee a day

    Motivator for switching to Primal: hunger...constant hunger

    Favorite exercise: grappling

    Favorite Primal food: avocado

    Best part about being Primal: after two days...definitely not as hungry

    Worst part about being Primal: I am terrified of the calories. I know I should not be, but there it is

    How Primal are you: just started today - have been following paleo for 6 months - ate "clean" = hi protein low carb - cycle carbs - and low-mod fat

    Do you consume dairynly if I want to run even the dog out of the house and look 9 months pregnant

    Do you drink coffee or tea: both

    Motivator for switching to Primal: constant hunger for years eating clean every 2-3 hours - Consumes me and tired of it

    Favorite exercise: weight training

    Favorite Primal food: steak

    Best part about being Primal: wasn't hungry for hours!

    Worst part about being Primal: nothing yet!

    How Primal are you: going for 2 weeks. Cant afford good organics but am doing what I can to make due. Lots of meat, oils, and veggies. Less than 50 carbs/day.

    Consume Dairy: Some for probiotics and never more than a glass or two per week because am fairly intolerant.

    Drink Coffee of Tea: Cutting back. Energy drinks to coffee everyday to 3 cups a week to none this week. I've had a pretty heavy caffeine addiction since college.

    Motivator for Switching: Body composition, and it follows my training as an anthropologist/archaeologist.

    Favorite Exercise: Lifting heavy things... Squats, deadlifts, and bench press.

    Favorite Primal Food: Steak and Bacon

    Best Part of Being Primal: Getting stronger and losing fat without the torturous bodybuilder diets

    Worst Part of Being Primal: Giving up beer. Oh I want some beer so bad.

    Consume Dairy: Nope!

    Drink Coffee or Tea: Nope! Only herbal tea

    Motivator for Switching: I cut out gluten and dairy as part of an anti-inflammatory 'test' diet after diligently going to the gym and eating 'healthily' for a year with no real change to my body - muscles under the stubborn fat, bloating and all-round feeling rubbish.

    Favorite Exercise: Definitely lifting weights.

    Favorite Primal Food: Steak

    Best Part of Being Primal: Losing an amazing amount of fat in 2 weeks, seeing my muscles rather than just feeling them, feeling healthier, more alive, more positive...

    Worst Part of Being Primal: Absolutely none. I feel no urge to eat any of things I used to before! So far, of course...!

    Best part about being Primal: I get to eat all my favorite foods, plus feel healthier than I have in years.

    Worst part about being Primal: Hmmm, nothing comes to mind. I love the food, and greatly appreciate that it all makes rational, logical sense, so it's something I can live with for the rest of my life. I also really love to sleep, so that's easy. What's not to love about living the way I was born to live?

    How Primal are you: I've been at this for about 2 months.

    Do you consume dairy: a little bit

    Do you drink coffee or tea: Tea mainly

    Motivator for switching to Primal: I gained about 15 unexplained lbs in the last year. I've eliminated almost all of them by abstinence from grains and sugar, so I'm pretty motivated to keep going.

    Favorite exercise: Walking, hiking, swimming.

    Favorite Primal food: Eggs and Bacon

    Best part about being Primal: Lots of delicious food to eat.

    Worst part about being Primal: Not much.

    I discovered MDA from posting at birthdayshoes.com and have greatly enjoyed working my way through the archives. So much useful information!

    Age (If you want): 29

    How Primal are you: Ish. I've only been at it for a couple weeks, at least intentionally. I've been eating in the direction of primal since starting crossfit almost a year and a half ago. I'm far less concerned short-term effects (weight loss, strength gain, etc.) than I am in long term health benefits. I've watched my grandparents' and parents' generation get bigger and bigger and I refuse to accept that as normal. I want to be in better shape when I'm 70 than I was at 18.

    Do you consume dairy: Some: cream for the coffee, some greek yogurt and cheese

    Do you drink coffee or tea: I try to limit my caffeine intake, but the ante meridian coffee is part of my morning ritual, and tea just my water taste so much better

    Motivator for switching to Primal: I don't particularly care about weight so much as composition, and I've had a long interest in health and nutrition.

    Favorite exercise: Crossfit, though that's pretty over-arching. I like to Lift Heavy Things, and the snatch is probably my favorite there. Kettlebells are great fun, especially when you get proper form down. I like to run, hike, yoga, climb stuff, do handstands and lots of other stuff that stretches me and expands my horizons.

    Favorite Primal food: Bacon. Bacon makes everything better. And meat. Meat makes everything better, too. So does cream! And the BAS!

    Best part about being Primal: Projecting healthy living decades ahead. And the great food!!

    Worst part about being Primal: Grocery shopping. I know too much about what's available, so I end up running around a lot more. I find a cooler or two helps a GREAT deal.

    Do you consume dairy: Goat butter & sometimes goat cheese

    Do you drink coffee or tea: Tea

    Motivator for switching to Primal: I was veggie for years and wound up suffering from crazy nutritional deficiencies. Had to get back on meat, and feel a ton better.

    Favorite exercise: Sprints, Weights and Salsa Dancing

    Favorite Primal food: Bison

    Best part about being Primal: I get to eat meat again.

    Worst part about being Primal: I miss all the carbs. I don't miss the way they made me feel though.
