    Does this seem right?

    Primal Blueprint Expert Certification
    After calculating my BMR, BMI, daily calorie expenditure, calorie deficit to lose weight, etc., I come up with the following intakes:

    • 77 g of protein
    • 75 g of carbs (just picked the middle of the weight loss sweet spot)
    • 88 g of fat (after determining the above calories, solved for remaining)


    I guess since this goes against everything I've ever known to be true it just doesn't look right.

    If this seems reasonable, please pass the butter.

    P.S. Is there an easy way of determining a good breakdown between saturated fats and other fats, or is that not necessary?

    That seems a little low on protein. I'd try to up it to at least one g per lb of lean body weight.
    I'd probably aim a little bit lower on the carbs if you can as well if you're looking to lose weight.

    Fat looks pretty much where it should be for 1400 calories.

    You'll get varied responses for the fat. Sat fats shouldn't matter much, but keep your levels of omega-3 and -6 as close as possible.

    Interesting information. However, I'm going to base my first trial run on the book, which references caloric deficits, and see how that works out for me.

    Try two weeks counting calories, then try two weeks not counting them.
    Try for the first two weeks to eat as close to primal as you can, then the next two weeks eat nothing but primal approved.
    I would love to see what benefits you the most For me it's not counting the calories but instead counting the carbohydrates.

    I honestly hate counting calories. After awhile I usually try the whole "listen to my body" thing and, due to my unhealthy relationship with food, always end up gaining weight. Granted, this was when I was eating mostly grains, legumes, and vegetables. I probably only ate 2 ounces a day of some kind of meat.

    I definitely do not plan on counting calories for the rest of my life, but I don't think it will hurt to have a basic idea of what my intake is when starting out. If it turns out I'm not feeling satisfied, I'll eat some more. But this time it will be almond butter and apples instead of Cheez-its

    Switch 25g of carbs for 25g of protein and leave the fat as is. It might suck at first if you get the carb-flu thing, but it will pass.
    People too weak to follow their own dreams will always try to discourage others.
