I think a sandbag is a piece of equipment that everyone should be working out with to build fuctional and practical strength, and I've just posted two articles on sandbags on my blog.

The second is on making homemade sandbags. I made two and have written now what works well and a few ideas for others looking to make a sandbag or two.
