Were you sleep deprived?
I've been doing the primal lifestyle for about a month and a half now and last weekend, I found myself unusually craving for rice, crackers and muffins. I ended up consuming a fair amount of carbs outside of vegetables and fruits over Saturday and Sunday and on Monday, the craving suddenly disappeared and I'm comfortably back with primal.
I'm wondering if this is normal or if anyone else has experienced it? Also, what does that mean? Did my body maybe lack carbohydrates?
Were you sleep deprived?
I've been craving cereal of all things. I've been sleeping well, but going to bed late, and have felt tired a lot lately. Interesting coincidence?

I have noticed that my carb cravings increase when my sleep cycle is off (which means my trip to Paris next spring will be a unique form of torture).
My primal journal that I don't update enough:

In Lights Out, they claim when your body wants you to sleep, it makes you crave carbs, which creates an insulin spike, the crash from which gets you to go to sleep. Seems accurate IME.
There's no such thing as an essential carbohydrate. It's more likely you're not keto adapted yet.
Eventually you will hit gluconeogenesis where the liver converts protein into glucose for the brain. Your brain is telling you you need quick carbs because your brain does need glucose to function. When I started paleo/primal, I supplemented with a lot of fruit in the beginning and then weened myself off of the fruit once everything began to normalize.
