No, sweet potato is ideal. It's not really in the potato family, it's an entirely different plant with many more nutrients and none of the nightshade baggage.

Thank you for the response. I do have another Q.....the say no grains: rice. Does this mean WHITE rice ?
I am having a difficult time putting down over 200 g carbs from sweet potatoes(I can easily hit 300g carbs with white rice in the mix). I may need another source. Any suggestions if we are not to use white rice ?
They say no grains. Rice=grain like it or not.
Mix mashed sweet potatoes with eggs and make pancakes for a little variety.

Isn't a carb refeed outside the scope of the Whole 30? The Whole 30 is a 30-day program designed to clear out the bad stuff from your system and start you over with as close to a clean slate as possible. The primary goal is health. Weight loss is secondary, and things like leptin resistance are to be dealt with later as you re-introduce foods like white rice and potatoes and whatever else, once the 30 day program is over.
So I would say either don't be concerned about a refeed or don't do Whole 30.
