    Daily Water Intake

Hi all, I've heard that going low into the ketosis range has a possibility of really frying your kidneys, but above that range in the 50-100g of carbs a day, how much water should I normally be drinking?

Enough that you aren't thirsty and aren't getting dehydration headaches.

I find I drink much less on a primal diet, which makes sense as I don't have grains in my digestive system sponging up all the water I drink.

I do karate and we have water breaks, during which I just kind of stand around and watch everyone else "tank up". =/

CW baggage... kidneys (and the rest of your body) are fried by glycation, i.e. excessive glucose.

    Yeah, no it won't.

    Drink when you're thirsty.

I have always struggled with drinking "enough" water. Obviously drinking when thirsty is the way to go. I think that in my profession, (restaurant) not being able to go to the bathroom for 6-8 hrs is worse on the kidneys, we kind of compensate and drink more water later....after 3 double shifts my urine looks like apple juice, but a day of "remembering" to drink water, even if it is only a few cups, takes care of that in a hurry.

I used to aim to drink half my body weight in ounces of water daily, but now I just encourage myself to make it through my big 64 oz jug daily

i think if you are in ketosis, you need to drink regardless if you think you are thirsty or not. the whole process of ketosis is converting fat to ketones and the way to remove said keytones from the body is through urinating. if you drink enough to where you are having to urinate more frequently, you are removing ketones from the body at a faster rate, thus you lose weight at a faster rate. i dont really know how to explain the scientific process of this but for me thats how it works. obviously if you arent in ketosis this wont apply

also your urine should be very light, almost clear. if there is a lot of color it means you are dehydrated

half my body weight in ounces is only 57 ounces or 7.25 cups. lol. I very frequently get by, when not working, on 4 cups. Sometimes a bit more. I try to get at least 6 cups on working days.

Excreting the ketones won't make you lose weight any faster, I am very frequently in and out of ketosis. The body will excrete them through the bowel, breath, sweat, as well as urine. I sweat all right, and I poop every day..and I certainly breathe my cavegirl breath on everyone, but sometimes I fall short on the H2o supply...a few days of rehydration, and I am ready to get dehydrated again...lol
