    Taco Salad (Minus The Tacos!)?

    Hello all,

I'm completely new to primal living so wanted to run this past you guys to check if it is ok.

Note: I'm only on my second day of the diet, and I am not going "super strict" at the moment. By that I mean, I'm not going organic with my meat, or always grass fed, and I might buy some off the shelf stuff at times (such as the guacamole below). However, I am of course completely avoiding all grains etc and focusing on a low carb/high fat/protein diet.

So, my recipe (simple, I know!):

    Mixed lettuce
    Fresh tomato
    Red pepper
Ground lean beef/chicken, fried in olive oil
    Sour cream
    Chedder cheese

How does this sound to you? I know that dairy is frowned upon by some, but it provides loads of fat. To me this seems low carb/high fat/good dose of protein, with lots of nutrients from the veg.

    Is this a "primal" recipe?

    Sounds like it to me
I actually had taco salad for breakfast this morning - was craving it so bad lol

I just had taco seasoned hamburger, lettuce, tomato and a sprinkling of shredded cheese.

For dinner, I finished up the extra spiced burger with a smashed avocado on top.

Instead of shredding the lettuce - make taco lettuce cups. Looks Primal to me.

In May I came across a really yummy Primal/Paleo tortilla chip recipe. They hold up well to guac & salsa. Search this forum for it!

    Mmm...that was very tasty!

I swapped the ground beef for chicken and bacon.

Taco salad is what's on my dinner menu tonight. Never had it with sour cream and guacamole...I'll have to give that a try next time.
I'm retraining and strengthening my taste buds, one primal meal at a time.
