I didn't lose my initials. I went from JKC to JKC.
(Strangely enough that's how we met: alphabetical seating. First comment I make is "I hate Windows XP, I really do." He joins in the hate- this was long before Vista, 7, and 8- and we became fast friends.)
"No fate but what we make"- Sarah Connor, Terminator 2
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, steak in one hand, chocolate in the other, yelling "Holy F***, What a Ride!"
My Primal Battle Tome
I kept my name for financial (left over stuff from his first marriage) and teacher licensing reasons. Luckily we live in a very modern place where a good number of married couples have different names. I sometimes deliberately use a hyphenated last name for non legal family things. For example, I billed myself as Paula Lucas-Walsh for the "Willy Wonka" Playbill because I was acting with my husband and son. My initials are PAL but would have changed to PAW if I had taken his name.
My SIL and BIL gave all there kids two middle names the second of which is her maiden name.
My maiden name would not make a very good middle name.
Yeah, my thoroughly Russian last name would not make a good middle name. It's not like Vladimirovich, in which case, you feminize Vladimir and make that the name. Or at least, it would be VERY uncommon. I like Vera and don't want to lose it.
Got in a little argument with someone on Tumblr about paleo. She said it's not based in historical fact or biology. Then she spouted a bunch of (healthy) CW stuff about trans fats, sodium, and replacing beans with red meat. WTFever, woman. I'm pissed about her attitude and that I allowed her another opportunity (via her public response to my rebuttal/calling out) to share misinformation, but whatever. I'll let it go. She posts interesting stuff otherwise.
Like someone else said, we never would have survived as a species if we HAD TO eat every couple hours or three times a day or eat crap. I take it she isn't thinking about it in that way? Geez, some people just cannot see beyond what has been spouted to them. I'm pretty sure feast or famine were the order of the day for our ancient predecessors.
If your body is willing, your mind can push it to do some amazing things.
When I got married I took his. When we were divorced I refused to keep his. Unfortunatly some things like my student loan is in tgat name. It takes jumping through many flamming hoops to change those documents, it wasn't worth it.
