    Coconut cream - huh?

    Shop Now
I see so many posts where people rave about coconut cream. I bought some from Tropical Traditions and I hate it! I've tried putting it in coffee/tea and it's gritty and doesn't taste very good. Am I doing something wrong? I have much better luck putting pure coconut oil in these drinks.

    Thanks!

No - the coconut oil will be gross.

Try coconut milk first, not cream. Shake it well add about 1 cm at first until you get used to the taste.

I actually really like coconut oil! I'll put about 1 tbsp and some heavy cream in my tea (goes great with the flavor of Earl Grey).

I've discovered I prefer the coconut cream (by Let's Do Organic) to coconut milk, even with the grit. Not sure what other brands taste like, but LDO Creamed Coconut is darn tasty. Much better than any coconut milk I've tried. And it's only coconut.

The grittiness is a perception thing. It reminds me of cowboy coffee or unstrained tea sans bag. It just is. I deal with it because I like the flavor.

I also like coconut oil, though put a bit of heavy cream in as well when I use the oil.

Started PB late 2008, lost 50 lbs by late 2009. Have been plateaued, but that thing may just be biting the dust: more on that later.

I don't know what you are talking about - when I'm out of heavy cream I pop open a can of Thai Kitchen coconut milk - no grit, no mess. It has a mild flavor and a great thickness to it.
If you are new to the PB - please ignore ALL of this stuff, until you've read the book, or at least http://www.marksdailyapple.com/primal-blueprint-101/ and this (personal fave): http://www.archevore.com/get-started/

Tried it. Still prefer LDO creamed coconut. It's a flavor thing: I like my coconut with a bit of umph.

I do this and mix it with some spices. My new batch is pumpkin spice, and cinnamon. I put a couple of spoon fulls in my coffee and I'm good to go.

The only thing coconut cream concentrate is good for is nomming off the spoon and making fudge :P

whatever you do, don't mix it with cocoa butter, cocoa powder, and liquid stevia :P
