    Best Sport/Exercise that builds muscle?

    Primal Fuel
Hi, I'm wondering what you think is the best activity that would build muscle that doesn't involve going to the gym to lift weights. Mtn biking? Martial Arts? Boxing????
I don't have that much time to workout, so when I do I want it to be fun. Going to the gym to lift weights is NOT fun for me. I want a class, or an activity I can do on my own, and the one that is most efficient at toning you up. I'm not looking to get huge. Oh, I also find yoga quite boring.

    Any ideas?

Bodyweight training that you can do at home. Pullups, pushups, bodyweight squats, etc. They will build muscle and tone just fine.

Thanks, but you missed the part about me thinking weightlifting/gym workouts not being fun. I want a fun activity.

If you want to build muscle, you need to do resistance training. If you find that boring, consider changing your goal. None of the things you listed will build muscle.

I don't see how walking around your house picking up heavy things could not be fun. Like just sauntered from room to room with nothing to do is better! Look around, you are in a jungle gym / playground every day.

you could try practicing for the highland games. toss some hay bales around your yard, carry and throw huge rocks and logs, toss some sheep...

or you could climb things. rocks, trees, mountains, etc...i mostly work out so that i can be better at those things, but there's not reason you can do those things to get stronger.

    Not even a little?
Like if I took up boxing or kickboxing, all that punching and kicking things wouldn't build any muscle?

I don't understand people who have nothing to do. That is NOT my life, that's for sure. LOL!
I'm already an active person. I'd have to lift my 55" tv or the sofa or something. And no, I wouldn't consider that fun.

No, not a whole lot. You might get leaner which would reveal muscle but you won't add much muscle punching and kicking things.
