    Modified Whole30

    I would like to do a modified Whole 30. I did W30 in April, and launched into a manic binge as soon as it was over. I want to avoid this, so I was thinking I'd allow some sensible vices, but wanted guidance on which ones would be good ones & others not so much.
    I know it kinda defeats the purpose of W30, but I definitely want to do it again and keep refining my diet.

    for sure I am allowing bacon. W30 without bacon was just... painful. Childbirth was easier!

    any other suggestions?

    EDIT: P.S. This would be and extended W30 from July 10 - late August (when I go for my next diabetes checkup)

    I'll be doing a Whole 30 + butter in July. I can't give up the butter.

    Butter, yes! Totally agree. Butter is delicious.

    I also have ghee, but definitely prefer butter.

    Who cares, screw the name, I made up something called 30DONN (30 days of no nonsense) and some folks here liked it and ran with it because that's what whole30 is (or was) to me, 30 days where you're going to be straight up with yourself and make yourself accountable. I agree that calling it whole30 is slightly dishonest if you're not following THEIR guidelines, so make up your own title if you wish.

    Personally, having also done whole30 if i were to do it again I would keep the dairy that I consume (mostly heavy cream, don't even really use butter that often) and allow myself "social" cheats such as chocolate, or alcohol in moderation.

    I don't really see the value in doing w30 over and over again, instead I'd use it as a starting point then find how you want to live day to day. For instance, if you're a daily drinker, whole30 will teach you that you can do without, but you may still choose to partake in the drink once a week, or something to that effect. I found I have no real "fuck I'm really about to shit my pants!" type of allergy or aversion to foods I didn't eat during whole30 so I only learned that I'm fully CAPABLE of abstinence if I really put my mind to it.

    I wouldn't do it again, like I said, I think it's best to find a "model" you can do 4 LYFE rather than a 30 day bootcamp style eating that leaves you feeling like you purposely want to eat all that shit they denied you.

    I'm doing a proper whole30 in July... I liked the challenge of no dairy.

    I kinda agree with iniQuity... either do whole30 as intended or do a 30DONN (I LOVE that btw!!)

    Personally... whole30 is more of a challenge than anything. I like challenging myself to come up with new food ideas & I also like the no dairy thing - something I'd eventually like to do for real, but I'll just keep doing whole30 until the no dairy sticks for good!

    Let's go for BACON DONN!
    I don't eat bacon every day, but my tummy (and overall psyche) are very happy when I do. I don't eat a lot of dairy (coconut milk *is* pretty tasty), but I like butter better than ghee.

    I am also really enjoying homemade coconut bark. My latest batch is EVCO, coconut cream, shredded coconut, cardamom, and a little liquid vanilla stevia. So good!

    all reasonable vices, right?

    Could someone please explain what the big deal is with Whole 30?

    I looked it up here- The Whole30, Version 3.11 | Whole9 | Let us change your life.

    I have made those changes pretty much since 2007. What is the 30 day thing for? It seems like if you want to make a change, you should make a permanent change. (I counted 5 things on the "do not" list that I still do, but they are Primal (like butter and yogurt))

    We always say Primal is a way of living/way of eating. Permanent changes. What's the deal with a 30 day thing? I just don't get it.
