Primal - UR doin' it wrong!

    Primal Fuel
Look, I know I haven't read everything there is to read about the primal diet, but there is no way bacon and cheese should be considered daily items on the primal menu! These products are almost always from grain-fed animals and are LACKING so many phyto-nutrients. We need to remember how crucial plant sources were for Grok. The eating of lots of leafy veggies like kale and collards is not something I'm hearing much about lately around here. I mean, pecans, almonds, coconut and avocado, etc. are also amazing sources of very useful fat and they are saturated with so many minerals and vitamins that BACON might as well be considered empty calories. We've got to drop this atkins-ese going on around here and remember how much work it was for Grok to hunt down some prey. Go for a sprint, lift some heavy stuff, and eat some liver, boil some marrow and lay off the pigs and cows for awhile, folks. Just my 2 cents!

Anybody else notice an awful lot of excessive bacon-eating in this place? There's no way it's all grass-fed.

Can't eat bacon, it gives me a migraine.

But I allow others to live their lives as they please. Everyone is different, physiologically and emotionally, so what works in one person's life doesn't work in another's. So be it.

No pig is all grass fed. You'd end up with pretty sorry pigs. Wild pigs don't subsist on just grass. These days I only eat bacon about once a week, but what I eat comes from one of two local farms and they feed entirely on vegetable matter and whatever bugs they accidentally scrounge. No grains whatsoever.

That said, two years ago when I first went primal, bacon was damned near a daily staple and I was getting it from my local conventional grocery store and sucked it down grainfed fat, nitrates, nitrites and all. It got me over SAD with something to look forward to every day as I was first transitioning.

    *shrUg*

It did the trick and I'll not knock it.

I'm primal, but I eat what I can afford and for over a year that meant NOTHING grassfed. If folks are eating bacon they are eating bacon. Call that *doing it wrong* all day, I have a hard time looking at a picture of someone like say Batty and saying Bacon is the wrong way to go.

talking about eating bacon (and actually eating bacon) = fun

talking about eating leafy greens = not fun

just because we don't talk about it doesn't mean it ain't happening.

I have only been doing this for less than two years. Personaly, my primal diet has drastically evolved a few times. Right now I don't eat eggs or dairy. I consider nuts and berries my cheats. I totally expect that my diet will change and grow with my needs and health.

We are all so different. I just assume that everyone here is doing the best they can and that it is the Right way for them.

I don't see Primal as something that defines right or wrong. I see it as a logical way to think about what makes sense, and I make my decisions from there.

    I don't buy bacon.

Unless you are talking about eating leafy greens in bacon fat.
Not fun + fun = almost fun!

Dairy is not considered a daily item on the PB. Cheese is a "sensible indulgence."

Meat from non-pastured animals is not anti-PB. Bacon would be as questionable as you believe if Mark advocated making entire meals of bacon, but he doesn't.
