Watermelon is high on the glycemic index, yes. However, it's glycemic load is low. It's almost entirely water and is quite fibrous. You have to eat a whole lot of watermelon before you're going to do the damage of a bowl of pasta to your blood sugar. I'd be willing to bet your body would fill up from too much water before you became hyperglyemic. I've never felt like crap from watermelon because it fills you up so fast!

He'd eat til he was gut busting - then he'd piss for an hour and possibly have some loose stools.
He might go back for more the next day, unless he felt the sugar was too much.
I had a couple bites of ripe watermelon a few days ago. I turned it down because it tasted too syrupy.
Along these same lines, does anyone else after starting primal find themselves much more sensitive to sugar? I never took sugar in my coffee, but when the (intelligent, concerned and present) Dunkin' Donuts employee took my order she gave me a coffee with sugar and it was UNBEARABLY sweet. I've noticed other things taste very sweet to me now too.
When you go off of things like sugar and salt, you become more sensitive to them. In the sense that you know how much you're actually consuming. Eating it frequently will make your tastebuds not do their job properly - but that doesn't mean it's not having the same effect on your body.
