Here's my VERY recent triumph.

I had to buy jeans in February, along with pants to wear to my father's funeral. I had to buy 62/28 dress pants, and 60/28 jeans that had "extenders" in the waist (essentially elastic) so you could pretend you were skinnier than you were. I was absolutely humiliated.

Today I walked into Big & Tall with those 60/28s flapping around my hips and butt and legs, cinched on with the smallest belt I own, and walked out wearing a pair of 52/28s *without extenders.* And I was fatter when I started low-carbing in August than I was when I bought those 60/28s. I know I was, because I'd split a seam in them sometime in July.

I've lost, at minimum, 10 inches off my waist in less than four months. Probably more like 14 to 16 inches.

Folks, if that's not a triumph, I don't know what is.

    Tell me yours!

Nothing so dramatic as yours, Griff--- but it was ironic that I spent Thanksgiving with a friend, who early this summer, gave me a pair of Levis that didn't fit her anymore. Even though they were too small for me at the time, I took them on spec because they were beautiful.

I was wearing those jeans (they're now loose and comfortable) at dinner, and she asked me where I got them. When I told her they were her old ones, she almost spit out her pie ;-)

I haven't lost a ton of weight, maybe 8 or ten pounds since August. But I've gone from a "stuffed into a size 8" or a ten, to being able to wear any size 6 jeans I want. These are the things that girls love ;-)

Brilliant Griff - you're such a legend! And what a great idea for a post!

Again, my triumph isn't as dramatic as yours, but...

In the UK, women's clothes sizes are a size up than in the US, so a UK size 16 us a US size 14, ok?

8 weeks ago, I used to be a size 18/20 on my hips and a size 14 on my top. I found it impossible to by jeans that fitted, because I had wide hips, big thighs and a relatively smaller waste. Last weekend, I bought size 14 jeans that actually fitted and made me look good. I bought a really girly top in a size 12.

I am finally happy to look, really look at myself in a full length mirror and I love what I see. I look great. I look normal!

I also got three conpliments on how I look and my clothes yesterday. I always used to wear black and a few muted colours - now I'm going for the colourful stuff because it makes me feel even happier!

    Can you tell I'm happy?!!!

Grats to you, Griff! Here's mine:

I live in Arizona and as the days get cooler here it remains as dry as ever so my skin gets dry, flaky and it cracks. Anyway, I got some moisturizer and put some on my arms and hands and then went to rub some into my legs. Instead of sitting down on a couch or in a chair and struggling to cross my leg over my lap to put it on, I bent at the waist and smoothed it down my legs all the way to my ankles and then stood up straight again. It wasn't until a few seconds after the fact that I thought, "Wow... I've never been able to bend at the waist that far and I totally just did it without even thinking about it! I didn't have to sit down to do it!" The little things matter most. =)

I haven't (yet) had a major breakthrough, but I am seeing progress in my strength - like my lame pull-ups actually taking my weight off the floor, or being able to lift metal gates that 1 month ago I couldn't budge.

Oh - my belt has gone down a notch too!

But I can't afford new clothes yet

But your belt has still gone down a notch! And you can lift metal gates you couldn't lift before!

I had another small triumph yesterday. My car is a PT Cruiser. It has a center storage box between the two bucket seats. Always before, the lid would brush against me and pinch me when I'd try to open and close it. Yesterday? Didn't touch me.

(By the way, NMC, I posted those recipes for you in my own journal thread. )
