This is a pretty small triumph (I'm like four days into this), but I'm still counting it: I was busy at work today, and I eventually looked up to realize I had worked straight until 1:30 without feeling hungry. I usually start thinking about lunch at around 10 in the morning, or even earlier. When I finally did start to feel like I could eat something, it was a very different sensation of hunger than I'm used to--probably because it wasn't caused by a blood sugar crash. I ate a side order of straight-up guacamole from Chipotle and feel totally satiated!

Just got back my cholesterol labs from the doctor.

In August 2009, when I started:

    Total: 195
    HDL: 37
    LDL: 152
    Trig: 133

    Total/HDL: 5.3
    Trig/HDL: 3.6
    LDL/HDL: 4.1

    Now:

    Total: 192
    HDL: 49
    LDL: 131
    Trig: 53

    Total/HDL: 3.9
    Trig/HDL: 1.1
    LDL/HDL: 2.7

    Booyah, baby.
Primal eating in a nutshell: If you are hungry, eat Primal food until you are satisfied (not stuffed). Then stop. Wait until you're hungry again. Repeat.

Oh, and they just sent me my A1C:

5.2, with a note: "You are NOT diabetic."

    BOOYAH, BABY.

I just wanted to repeat that, in awe.

Today, for the first time in almost three years, I walked to my mailbox.

I was shaking like a leaf, it was uncomfortable, and I'm sure it looked awful .... but I did it!!

I am about 97% no longer limping and dragging my right leg. What little remains, I am told, is purely neurological just because my body's been doing it so long and can be trained out of me.

edit: So I get to my mailbox, grinning like a fool from ear to ear, and the only thing inside the box was a medical bill.
