Read this section about Leaky Gut Brain Gut axis control | Jack Kruse If you do things that will raise your HDL, your liver will protect your gut. One of the best things to consume is copious amounts of coconut oil. You must do everything you can to raise your HDL as low HDL is a marker for leaky gut syndrome.
Leaky Gut | Jack Kruse This is a link to all mentions on Dr Kruse's blog on leaky gut. When you get there, in your browser, click on edit, then click on find, then enter leaky gut and each mention will be highlighted in yellow. when you get to the bottom of the page, go to previous posts and do the same thing. There are so many things Dr Kruse has mentioned regarding Leaky Gut that are spread throughout his blog.
Following the Leptin Protocol reset to the letter...especially the timing and the sleep are critical to repairing yourself. You just can;t take a pill and magically it is gone. But you become Leptin Sensitive and magically many of your problems will become non existant...as quite a few people have learned on this board.
Regarding casein allergy...perhaps introduce the Greek Yogurt, one tablespoon at a time...slowly. I find the probiotics with the 100 billion live colonies to be a bit of a hype and very pricey, as you have found. I have taken them and I can truthfully say I have seen no effect on my gut.
Throughout Dr Kruse's blog, he references Vit D3 levels as being critical to good health as well as Vit K2. Do everything you can to not abuse your liver...it is the filter of life and if you don't put toxins in your gut, your liver can operate more efficiently.
In the gut lining there are junctions of cells that seem to separate a little and allow toxins that enter the gut to leak out of the gut into our bodies. The idea of the tumeric and the pepper and the cumin and chocholate eem to tighten up these junctions and prevent leaky gut.
Ok. So my workplace offered a free basic biometric screening. I just got the results of the bloodwork. It isn't too pretty but at least I have a foundation as I start to get additional labs as I save $$ for them. The lipid profile is basic and shows no distinction in particle size. I'm mostly concerned with how low my HDL is as that seems to be the biggest of the red flags. Unless I'm missing something...? Suggestions/comments welcome!
TC: 193mg/dL
HDL: 38mg/dL
LDL: 128mg/dL
Trigs: 139mg/dL
Db (fasting glucose): 96mg/dL
They are fiberous and they chemically are a carb that breaks down quickly with the HCL in our guts to start the fermentation process to make good gut flora. Dr Art Ayers at Cooling Inflammation is where I first learned of inulin. Go to his blog and look around for leaky gut and inulin. He is a firm believer that a properly functioning gut is the key to your health...as is Dr Kruse.

Every day I use CO to cook every meat I eat, use it in my tea and chicory coffee at meals and also have manna w/ my BAB. I've been doing this for 4+ months. What else am I missing? I drench my greek yogurt with cinnamon, use cacao nibs in it sometimes too and have at least 1 serving of something fermented each day. I take a 500mg curcumin supplement each day.
My gut feels rather terrific but I didn't think it was in bad shape to begin with. I wonder if something else could be at play here. I know I need more labs, especially hormones, as the women in my family all have thyroid issues. Off to reread Dr. Ks leaky gut & hormones 101 blog again. Oh, I had better do that in the morning. Passed my bedtime.
Dont forget that Vitamins and Nutritional Supplements - Vitamin Research Products is having a 50% off sale. Ends tonight1 I got ultra K2 there as it is the one Dr. K recs.

JanSz...good catch. Dr Davis uses Slo Niacin in his practice to raise HDL. Available from Walmart for about $12 100 tablets of 500mg each. According to Dr BG at AnimalPharm it is especially effective on our low carb leptin reset protocol diet. 1000mg morning and evening seems to prevent the Niacin flush that many object to. Menopausal ladies do not want any more hot flashes than necessary! And men, take 2000mg at one time and feel what the ladies are going through! plus extreme hot skin, itchidng, tingling all over!!

hi folks,
i just joined the forum..and today marks day one of LR for me. i have been on and off trying to do some of the things suggested by richards and kruse but would fall off the wagon if it didn't fit in well with my schedule.
anyway..i am sure the answer is in one of the 802 pages (!!), but my question is: can you eat diary and some nuts (pistachio and macadamia) while doing the 6-8 week reset?
i did the hcg diet and i'm currently trying to stabilize. those who are on the hcg forum seem to say NO you can't consume those things. i read dr. kruse's website and i don't think i've actually read anywhere where HE himself said no to those things. i have read where people posting said not to eat them. prior to LR, i was eating the full fat greek yogurt you guys were all discussing. i would also snack on almonds and peanut butter without any problems.
if someone could answer this it would be great.
looking fwd to getting to know some of you and hearing your stories...
mary
ps.my assumption was we couldn't have dairy b/c of the insulin spikes and cuz it's not considered 'primal'.
Yes, I thought the same MamaGrok. Artichokes are a fructan (like onions and wheat), which means laying-down-in the-fetal-position pain for my gut! Probably what GAPS was referring to.And I have high HDL! In fact, inulin was one of the ingredients I had to watch out for - not an issue anymore as I don't eat anything in a package. I think sauerkraut is ok, though. Keep meaning to make some of my own.
I make my own Greek Yogurt out of Half n Half in a cooler with a heating pad. Very simple. Of course, I'm no longer doing dairy. . . sigh. . . those were good times.
