Went to get my 1st serum cortisol drawn today - at the VA outreach clinic at the new Army Medical Center - OMG is it nice! I fasted... got back home and ate bkfst around 930...and I wasn't hungry... but I ate a xtra protein at this BAB ...but I'm eating so late... don't want to have to deal w/lunch b/c I'd probably be hungry at 4pm..and dinner would be 2hrs later...that just doesn't sound fun.. We'll see how today goes...

I haven't taken my PS in the past two days and I've been waking up earlier... wondering If I can push back on the PS...

Wow - MamaGrok, I don't think I know anybody else that eats that well! Does the rest of your family eat that well, too? Way to go. Glad you are getting good results!

Mudflinger: I had my cholesterol done last week, too. What is interesting is that our total cholesterol is very close, but LDL and HDL are reversed, which is really why totals don't show you squat. Now, I can't take credit for all of these numbers, as my genetics makes my total low, used to be under 100. BUT, I do think eating coconut oil for the past 9 months has made a big difference in my HDL, which used to be in the 40s.

    Total chol-=138, LDL =41, VLDL=5, HDL=92, Trigl=23.

Another great sign is that my fasting serum glucose used to be in the mid-high 90s, and last week it was 87. I'm not eating anything different than when I was last tested, except WHEN and when I'm NOT eating. Interesting.

...yes, and Sauerkraut goes surprisingly well as a side with an omelet!

I got my first tests back today, but not sure yet what they mean. First, good news on the HbA1c: went from 5.8 last year (when I gave up the last bit of of sugar and went lower carb) to 5.4. DHEA-S is 81, LH is 26.2, FSH is 55.5. I am having trouble finding reference ranges. I'm one year done with menopause, does this sound typical? I have been supplementing with DHEA, and this looks like I am not doing too much of it, at least.
The last week, I have really noticed an improvement in my energy. The weather has been cooler, allowing me to take a much-needed rest.
I was encouraged last weekend when after a day of sea kayaking, I recovered by the evening. I was surprised at how much energy I had once I dealt with the heat issue.

Anyone know if one can take L-glutamine and NAC at the same time? They both say to take on an empty stomach.

Damn... I'm fighting a migraine... effing hell! I think its b/c TOTM is ending...so hormones are shifting... I'm going to pop some mag, eat a tBS of CO and see how things go... If that doesn't work... I'll be breaking out the Excedrin migraine, which is the only meds I can take that work....

Dr K - when I'm fully LS will my migraines go away permanently? or will I be stuck w/them for the rest of my life? Since going GF 6yrs ago - the frequency of them have lessened... but when I do get them they are a total Bitch... I even get them when a big front comes through (which could be a possibility for today - but I really suspect its b/c of the hormone shifting gears out of TOTM)

My b.s. has been up all night since having that soft cheese at 2. Went from 84 to 108 with a dinner of sausage and salsa (no sugar in either, very little of the latter), and is still at 92 3hrs later. I have no. idea. what is going on.

I'm embarrassed to admit I've already it three times. I guess I need to go try again, lol.

Okay, I did ... are you saying I'm leptin resistant at the liver (I can believe that!), have fatty liver (even though I've lost a lot of belly fat over the last 18mo? although it's still 32"), have elevated LDL (yes, it's 167; ratios indicate likely pattern A), and/or insulin resistant at the liver (certainly my excess calories have been going to fat, and NONE to energy!). I can't figure out the takeaway, can I get a clue? Anyone? Bueller?

Do my crazy afternoon b.g. readings today (see above) change any of your observations? (since they were based on my very low readings from yesterday)
I also have the low blood pressure but I thought it was from the adrenal issue. It seems like you have/had thyroid issues with the loss of body hair, no energy, no cheeryness and the low temps. Perhaps the reset is finally working and getting all your hormones balanced.

I am definately going to start checking bg and see what's up. Does fatty liver always correlate with excess fat on the stomach? I have a 26" waist but certainly follow your pattern. I am flabby though due to being LR. Today and a few other times I actually have gotton the full signal before 30 min. which is definately an improvement. I am getting lots of small headaches lately though. Don't know if it's the progesterone not being the right strength yet or not. Don't know what else would cause them unless it's the prednisone after effects still lingering.

I'm happy for you mamgrok. Sure hope it continues. I have some grass fed liver in my freezer and I'm going to pull it out and eat it. Don't know why I never think of it. I'm glad you note those things. They are great reminders.

Just curious, the last time I had my cholesterol checked it was:
    trigs 56
    ldl 108 down from 151 nov. '10
    hdl 101

Are these numbers good or not? I thought they were ok, but just not sure.

    Thanks much.
