5 Reasons Why You Eat More Bacon Than Me

It seems like many people in the primal community eat bacon daily. I choose not to for several reasons. In fact, I only enjoy about one lb. per month.

    Here are 5 reasons why...

    1. High in Omega 6 fatty acids
    2. Most is too salty
    3. Does not offer many vitamins and minerals
    4. Too messy
    5. My environment says not only bacon, but all pig meat, is the devil

If you think I am crazy and want to learn more about my reasons then read the blog post I published today: 5 Reasons Why I Choose to Limit My Bacon Consumption

I would love any and all of your comments. Tell me how much bacon you consume in a month.
    Find me at aToadontheRoad.com. Cheers!

I was hoping you'd elaborate on why your mother thinks pork is the devil.

    Bacon gets too much attention.

    I never buy it.

I recently found some chorizo at the health food store that looked acceptable and I cut one up and mix it with my eggs.

Pork is not the devil. Onions are!

but, it's BACON!!!!! A life without bacon is not a life worth living. Besides you should be making your own anyway, not buying that cheap stuff.

I was hoping you'd elaborate on why your mother thinks pork is the devil.

Not really sure as she can't explain it herself. But it has something to do with the bible... I am sure some of you know what I am talking about. I am not religious so I have no idea. I love her but sometimes she just needs to listen to me more often then she does. As time goes on it comes more and more comical - even for her.

It's an old tradition that dates back to pre-New Testament days.

It may have served a practical purpose back then, because we all heard that stuff about the health risks of un-cooked pork even in grade school.

Well, I'm not nuts about bacon, either. A pound a month, if that. Like you, I find it too salty.

Lots of us eat little bacon. Pork belly on the other hand is magnificent
Four years Primal with influences from Jaminet & Shanahan and a focus on being anti-inflammatory. Using Primal to treat CVD and prevent stents from blocking free of drugs.

Eat creatures nose-to-tail (animal, fowl, fish, crustacea, molluscs), a large variety of vegetables (raw, cooked and fermented, including safe starches), dairy (cheese & yoghurt), occasional fruit, cocoa, turmeric & red wine

Two fried eggs over easy and three strips of bacon for breakfast. YUM.

According to Cronometer three strips of pan fried bacon has 1 gm sat fat, 1.4 mono, and 0.3 gm omega-6, plus 192 mg sodium, so yeah it is salty. I always use paper towels to pull as much fat out as I can and even pull off fatty sections, because I don't really want the PUFAs either.

I love bacon but I think I am reasonable about it.
