    Stir frys

    Primal Fuel
    Alright, so before going primal I really enjoyed stir frys a lot. Jus go to the supermarket, buy a bag of ready made stir fry vegetables (where I live these are easy to get, cheap and it's 100% vegetables) and some pork, chicken or beef. Throw it in the pan with some rice or patato cubes and add some store made stir frying sauce.

    I didn't have these much since going primal. I especially liked the sweet and sour and soy sauce store sauces. But there's so much crap and sugar in them. I don't really enjoy the taste of vegetables much without the stir frying sauce covering it up a bit. But the meat, veggies and sauce combined are awesome.

    So I'm looking for EASY and great tasting stir frying sauce recipes to make. So I can just come home, trow the stuff in a pan and be done in 10 minutes .

    Sauce (1 svg):
    2 squirts fish sauce
    1 lime's juice
    1 lime's zest
    1/2" ginger, grated
    3-4 cloves garlic
    black pepper
    (optional) 1 tsp 5 spice powder or a szechuan spice mix (Mccormick's Szechuan is straight spices, no crap)
    Rice vinegar to taste

    Stir fry everything in one third toasted sesame oil/ two- thirds olive oil or walnut oil. Add sauce at end and mix in.

    I personally love throwing on random spices and sauces... mix and match the following ... literally...

    -Horseradish
    -Salsa
    -Mustard
    -All spices (especially pepper, salt, cinnamon, italian seasoning, onion, garlic...)


    I am drawing a blank... I throw on shredded coconut to a lot of foods...

    Last night my salad was... Lemon sorrel, chicken breast, potatoes, dark chocolate chips, steamed broccoli, lemon juice, mustard. It was awesome!


    Does anyone else do this? Throw in random foods in a bowl and call it a salad?

    Can't say I call it a "salad." I do that, but it's usually referred to as an "experiment" or "brilliant idea." I'm hesitant to call it a salad if it isn't mostly veggies.

    Without the szechuan spice mix I think. I don't have any use for American brands unfortunately, since I live in the Netherlands.
    I do have a five spice mix here, ingredients say: aniseed, fennel, peppercorn, cinamon bark & ginger. Is this the same?

    Same 5 spice powder. Go easy on it, too much can overwhelm the sauce.

    I use grated cauliflower as a rice substitute in a stir fry. Covered with sauce, I really can't tell the difference between grated cauli and rice, and it hits my "I miss rice" spot nicely.

    I'm sure you could get the same effect from a food processor although the pieces might not be as even as grating.

    chicken, stir fry veggies, sauce, broccoli slaw.

    in large skillet, steam broccoli slaw over olive oil (just toss EVOO in, then slaw, then cover). In separate pan, cook chopped chicken & stir fry veggies. Meanwhile, in a food processor, blend 1/4c almond butter, 1/4c sesame oil, 1/4c soy sauce, 4 garlic cloves, and chili powder. Pour over chicken & veggies, stir well. Serve over softened broccoli slaw.

    Jenny, I don't really miss the rice to be honest. But I use cauliflower rice when I make one of my favorite dishes, Pollo alla Pizzaiola . It's awesome.

    Dr. Bork Bork, looks awesome and I assume it will be quite similiar to Indian peanut sauce (which I love). I can't get almond butter here though and I don't have a food processor thats really awesome. I do however have quite a good blender and almond meal. I assume I can just replace almond butter with almond meal and trow everything in the blender? I'll try that!

    You'l l want to add oil to the almond meal and belnd that until you get almond oil.
