Why do I never get cravings in the morning?

    Primal Fuel
I was thinking there has to be some chemical that is in my body that is super high in the mornings when I wake up because I don't crave anything until after lunch...but usually after dinner. After dinner is the worst. I've heard about taking glutamine...that didn't work. I tried 5-htp in the afternoon, but that made me too sleepy for the rest of the evening. Any other thoughts? Thanks!

Oh it is always sweets. I can stay away from any bread, pasta, rice dish just fine, but I want my sweets at night lol. It's brutal. I usually cave in and eat some Luna's Coconut Bliss ice cream with berries or something like that. Sometimes dark chocolate or coconut butter made with berries. However, lately on the weekends I've been foraging into the dark territory of gourmet desserts at restaurants like brownie sundaes and cheesecake, so I need to get it under control. I know part of it is a hormonal issue...going to the doctor on Friday to see what's going on....but I figure there's got to be something I'm low in at night that is high in the morning in my body ya know? I heard about it somewhere...serotonin maybe?

That happens to me too. I am always super motivated in the morning and usually don't even need breakfast but I can feel my willpower slipping away as the afternoon goes on. I don't know if it's physical or psychological because I crave a comforting dinner after a hard day at work

A little daily dark chocolate isn't the end of the world. If you think it is serotonin (are the cravings usually in tandem with feeling bummed or "out of it?"), 5-htp didn't do squat for me unless I took it right before I went to bed. That and slightly higher carbs (50-100) did the trick for me, at that point. As of now, I pretty much just try to power through it. You might also try to trick your tongue with the sweet flavor of virgin coconut oil, either alone or with something fairly neutral flavored.

I'm the same and from talking to them, so are a few of my friends (all female by the way - but then, I haven't asked any guys). It's manageable for me now that I'm eating primal - nothing like before! - but I still get the munchies at night. It's not always sweets for me, but often is. I hope someone has an answer.

Oh it's definitely serotonin related for sure. I haven't had a cycle in over 2 months, and I always had mild depression ever since my cycles started. I need to find a good way to boost it because like you 5htp just made me really sleepy. I tried L-theanine and that worked for all of a week then nothing. I'm experimenting with GABA earlier in the day now.

i definitely struggle with this too. i can stay strict all day, but once post-dinner time hits, all i was are sweets.

though it may be hormonally related, i really feel it is mostly psychological. i read somewhere recently where studies done demonstrated that will power is exhaustible, meaning that over a given amount of time, will power/the ability to resist something will decrease from beginning to end. i have all the will power in the world until about 7pm, and suddenly i feel it wearing off, and sometimes i cave and eat something sweet. the goods news with this being psychological over hormonal is that i feel like it can be treated/improved upon without having to take anything

GABA didn't do squat for me, I hope it works for you. You might also check your vit D levels, as D is a key component is making serotonin, as is plenty of sleep in a blackout room (shouldn't be able to see the hand in front of your face). If the GABA doesn't work, try lady Primrose oil andexperiment with combos of the theanine, GABA, melatonin, 5-htp, and St. John's Wort. I will warn you that combining melatonin, theanine, and 5-htp made me sleep for 18 hrs and no alarm could wake me.

I take 4000iu of vitamin D a day right now, so I would guess it's not that ya know? I'm thinking about trying Sam-e if my tests come back ok on Friday. I'm 99.9% sure I'm not pregnant, but I'm going to have a complete blood panel worked up anyways. I've heard Sam-e shouldn't be taken if you're pregnant, so I figure better safe than sorry.

Isn't Primrose oil an omega 6 though? I mean I think it would still be worth the inflammation risk if it fixed me, but I'm just curious. Thanks!
