    Primal Fuel


    I'd like to begin supplementing with fish oil, but I'm not sure how much to start with. I've seen conflicting recommendations online. I'd be grateful for your experiences and advice!

    I quit eating fish oil too and just eat a can of sardines every day

    Hey, Plaid!


    I'm too broke right now to afford grass-fed/pastured meats, and so I'm taking two 1,200 mg fish oil caps a day, plus 4K units Vit D.

    I took my mom to a naturopath recently and he recommended she take atleast 1200mg of EPA. The 1000mg fish oil I have has 300mg of EPA, so she's been taking 4 of them. Her cardiologist asked her to take one fish oil pill, but never mentioned anything about the dosage!!! I take one per day, i.e., 300 mg of EPA. I eat mostly pastured meat and eggs.

    it's a tough question and an individual thing. It's based not only on diet (i.e. sources of Omega-6 and Omega-3..you're looking to balance the intakes), but can also vary individually. There's some evidence that people process & absorb Omega-3 with different efficiency rates. I have an older history of depression, for which Omega-3 supplementation was beneficial, so I may well suffer from a reduced absorption rate (= I need a higher intake).
