    Struggling To Go Primal

    Primal Fuel
I'm having a real hard time going primal. I'm morbidly obese and have lived on carbs my whole life and now I know that primal is the way to go, I'm just struggling to get there. I have to do this cold turkey and I don't want to do it half assed but I'm having trouble with it.

I will start the diet and then mess it up by craving sweets. I guess another problem is I have to wait till tommorow till all my primal shopping gets here (i have to order it delivery) So do I start the primal diet tommorow because I messed up today?

Never do tomorrow what you can do today

Some wise person said that, but I'm a procrastinator, so I never really paid attention! LOL!

Do what you can, when you can. Every little bit will help you out, and we're here for support if you need it.

Don't worry if you messed up today, just try and get back on track immediately. Don't let one slip-up be your excuse for having a whole day of junky food. When you start eating Primal the sweets/carb cravings are going to get worse before they get better, so try get a system in place to deal with them. A lot of people have said to try eating more fat to get through the carb cravings. It worked for me!

    Good luck!

When you mess up, get back on the wagon an keep going. Don't say, "Oh, well. Today is shot. Might as well screw it up good." Be as good as you can the rest of the day. Get some exercise. Whatever you can do.

Not everyone has to go cold turkey, but if you are morbidly obese, you need to aim for that. You will probably have to keep your carbs below 50g/day. But you still don't have to do it perfectly. That is impossible for most people.

To fight cravings, remember that fat is your friend, hard as that is to believe. Eat lots of it. Come here for support.

Welcome Adam! Good luck with primal. I want to see your success story a year from now, at the latest.

Take a deep breath. I like to think of the challenge of loving myself and taking care of myself like climbing a mountain. Sometimes, my foot is going to slip and I am going to backslide. However, I will not just curl into a ball and roll back down to the bottom. I will catch myself, readjust my backpack, take a swig of water and a deep breath and start digging my toes in to climb up again.

You can catch yourself, you can do this!

Go! Go! Go! Go! You have so many supporters in us!!! Start by cutting one thing today, don't drink any soda for example. You just have to be strong and love yourself through it. Announce it to your family and friends so they don't bring anything non primal to you. Be okay with the detox and if it gets that bad, eat some fruit. So happy you found this!

Tomorrow is not promised. COLD TURKEY, STAT!
Check out the Whole 30 challenge. It helps tremendously with Primal compliance, IMO.

having a craving and thinking you 'need' sweets is something you need to 'accept'. thats just it, accept the craving, like you accept chuggin a bottle of water is gonna make you go pee or getting on the scale and having frustration with what you see. accept it. it doesnt mean you need to act on it

i think that should be step one in primal...accept primal, look at what you CAN have and accept it as food.

Just be cool, AdamChase. Keep reminding yourself that by the end of 2011 you can be a normal person. Also, don't sweat the small stuff. Every little step helps, as long as it's a forward step.

Once you see some positive results it will be easier to keep going because you will feel the goodness, the goodstuff.

We are with you AdamChase! Be strong!
