Question Where the heck is the coconut oil?

    Primal Fuel
So I went grocery shopping the day before yesterday and could.not.find coconut oil anywhere in the store! Is it hidden in a secret aisle? I checked in the bakery stuff, in the oils section, in the canned fruit section, in the produce section, everywhere I could think of and still couldn't find it. No, I did not ask an employee... and yes, I realize I should have. Where do you guys find it?!

I couldn't find it in the chain store, but just picked up a small jar at the heath food grocery. Stuff ain't cheap, but neither is being sick, so I'll give it a try.

It was with the other oils where I went.

Depends on the store. At Kroger, I find it in the "health food" section. At Meijer, it's with the other oils in the baking aisle. Some stores don't have it at all~for instance, our Walmart does NOT carry it. I've also ordered it online fairly cheaply at iHerb.com. Hope this helps!

Try the health food places. I found mine in the baking aisle of an Asian supermarket.

I frequent three grocery stores. Only one (the largest) carries coconut oil in the health food section. One of the smaller ones, though, carries creamed coconut and coconut milk at really good prices in the 'ethnic' aisle.

I usually order from Mountain Rose Herbs, but if I need to buy it locally, i get it at Vitamin Shoppe. There isn't one grocery store that carries it around here.

Thank you!! I'll stop by Whole Foods and see if they have it. I found the coconut milk in the ethnic food aisle, but don't really see myself needing that for awhile.

Its on Whole Foods' oils aisle and also the vitamins and supps area (''whole body'') and sometimes on the baking aisle and ethnic aisle. And sometimes on an endcap. And also the raw foods area.

I find it's way too expensive at the supermarket. (About $8 for 16 ounces?!) I buy 5 gallon drums on the Tropical Traditions website. I can't afford the Virgin, but a 5 gallon bucket of the Expeller-Pressed Coconut Oil - Tropical Traditions is reasonable. $155 for a 5 gallon bucket of organic that generally lasts me a year or more.

    That breaks down like this:
    Supermarket - $2 per ounce
Tropical Traditions - $0.24 per ounce

Once you're sure about coconut oil, it doesn't make sense to me to not buy it in bulk.
