Ma Thinks My Diet is Weird

    Primal Fuel
Just wanted to whine about my mommy, who is visiting. I thought she would be excited to eat Primal/Paleo especially after dropping 5 lbs the last time she was here & her constantly asking me what the name of my "special diet" was so she could tell all her friends.

Yeah, not so much this time. Our first stop on the way home from the airport: the grocery store to buy coke & chips. *Sigh*
And then today she complains about waldorf salad, not really understanding what it is.

Okay, so... The Waldorf Salad was invented at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York. NEW YORK! My Ma was born in Astoria and grew up in Queens. How has this woman lived nearly 60 years & not know what a waldorf salad is when it was served in her back yard?
    *Sigh*
Tomorrow we go out to dinner. At least everyone will be happy then. She says I am a very fussy eater. whaaaat?

Im from NY and I had to google that salad, but I've definatly had it before. Good shit.

My parents are a pain too. I've given up on converting them. I hate preaching, pops doesn't try, mom keeps bringing crap into the house and baking cupcakes.

My little brother of all people is starting to worry about his health. I think it's cause all the junk food in the house is "supposed" to be for him, so he endss up eating most of it....hmm maybe i should focus on him. He's already really active , I bet if he eats like I do his acne will go away and he'll lean out a bit.

Ohh and I hate the fussy eater thing....My mom's new favorite question is not " -can you eat that?"

Yes Ma I can eat that. I can eat anything I want, but my aim is to eat the least processed foods I can.

hahaha ohhh the humor of eating real food....

ask her if it would be better if you ate 500 calories a day and injected yourself with hcg...then you could have a soda and maybe 5 chips

man, even if I was doing HCG, I'd make every single one of those 500 calories worth it-- REAL FOOD, not processed frankenjunk

EDIT: Did I mention she's T2 diabetic, too? I don't eat much fruit, but she freaks out if I offer her some, touting how badly it will affect her blood sugar. Um... not as much as those chips, hon! Oh, and she wants to go out for frozen custard after dinner. Yeah...

She's already called Everyday Paleo "that stupid book"
I don't think she's likely to read all the juicy goodness on here.

She just asked if the portabello mushrooms I prepared as my hamburger buns would make me sick. *breath of disgust* "wont' those make you sick?"
    "Um... I don't think so."

SHOULD I TELL HER I EAT HEMP? LOL

I would have told her that you have ever tried poisonous forest death caps but you read in that stupid book they were ok so you thought you would give it a try and dig in, eating and laughing inside as she wonders if you were serious or not. Wa ha ha ha!
