I've been on the hunt for a carrageenan-free coconut milk and found two. Whole Foods 365 Brand "Light" Coconut Milk, which has guar gum in it, and Goya Coconut Milk which has no additives, tastes the best and seems more..real. It even leaves behind coconut residue. So for me, Goya takes the win!

Isn't carrageenan just Irish moss (a sea vegetable) soaked and blended with water?? The tutorials I have for making it seem so harmless, I didn't know Irish moss is so bad for consumption.

The Cornucopia Institute just released a report compiling the scientific evidence linking the food additive carrageenan to gastrointestinal inflammation and disease. The press release and report are available here: Cornucopia Institute | Economic Justice for Family Scale Farming and Carrageenan 2013 | Cornucopia Institute. They're also asking people who cut carrageenan out of their diet and who noticed improvements in their gastrointestinal health to fill out an online questionnaire (Carrageenan Questionnaire | Cornucopia Institute), which is designed to assist medical researchers in better understanding the impact of carrageenan on public health.

Glad to see this. I initially discovered Cornucopia Institute when trying to figure out why formula containing DHA/ARA was making my daughter extremely ill. These additives do not belong under the organic designation.
