I was (still am) pretty sure that the book, 'Primal Blueprint', doesn't include alcohol as a worthwhile beverage. I know that when I read Rob's book,
'The Paleo Solution', and found alcohol permitted I was somewhat taken aback. I can't check on the Primal Blueprint book's reference to alcohol because my book is out on loan. I will check ASAP though because there is the chance that I am wrong.
Mark's blog posting about alcohol ends with the following: " However Primally compatible any beverage might be, we don’t intend this as an endorsement to drink on a regular basis. As mentioned, a good diet can offer the same nutritional benefits and then some. You aren’t missing out if you choose to abstain, and we’d recommend it, in fact, if you’re in weight loss mode. For an otherwise healthy individual, red wine or – more occasionally – other low carb drink choices can certainly fit into the Primal 80/20 principle. "
So, this tends to lean toward my belief of what was in the PB book. His blog article was not intended to be an endorsement of drinking alcohol and it fits into the 80/20 principle. Note the part where he writes about abstaining---he recommends it. To me the implication is that a Primal Blueprint purist, going 100%, will not consume alcohol. As I posted above, I am not in that crowd.
