I'm 5'5.5", 176 lbs, and I love meat. I eat 100-135g a day, on average, and try to keep my carbs under 50 (trying to get them back down to 20)
I am new in this forum. I have been doing primal during few months, (5'5"/116 lbs) and I am in troubles about protein, I cannot eat lower than 75-80g each day to keep carbs around 65-85g.
I would love to find other paleo people with a similar size to know how they deal with. Would anyone to share with me an example of her diary intake? Thanks in advance.
I'm not your size, but the less carbs you eat, the more protein you'll have to eat in order to meet your body's glucose needs. It might help to look at calories instead of grams. Calories from carbs + calories from protein should total at least 600/day and around 300/day each without exceeding 600/day each, adjusted for your personal needs and preference.
I'm 5'5, 127 lbs. I had been eating between 80 - 130 g protein daily and usually under 20 carbs but I was stuck between 130 - 131 lb. I find that when I increased my carbs to 40 - 50 grams and decreased the protein to 60 - 70 grams I slowly started losing weight again. All of this while eating MORE total calories because I'm making up the rest in fat. I think too low carbs and calories for me personally were slowing down my metabolism. I got the idea for high fat from Jan Kwasniewski's Optimal Diet (here's what I read that got me interested: Hyperlipid: Kwasniewski; praise the lard). I've only been trying this out for the last couple of weeks.
But that's just my experience. Everyone's different. I don't understand exactly what your problem is? are you trying to lower your protein and / or carbs? or why are you worried?
Thanks for your answers. I understand the suggested range of protein intake to me is 63 to 90 g. but I have realized with a high intake of protein my breath smells disgusting (colateral damage of ketosis). So low protein and low carbs ...hard to achieve to me.
High fat intake! That's how to do it ;-) If you're interested, you should check out the Perfect Health Diet. They recommend a caloric intake of 15% protein, 20% carbs, 65% fat.
Once you translate all of the scientific terminology there's some good info on their website but the book is great IMO.

I'm 5'4" and 128, down from 134, and I've only been eating Paleo about three weeks.
Many of the people on the board are heavy duty athletes, male, and bigger sized humans. They write about eating five eggs for breakfast!
I'm learning that portion control is still very important. I just don't need a lot of meat to feel satisfied at a meal. Eating a quantity of meat just because it's Paleo to do it isn't going to work for someone small and not excessively athletic.
I am 5'7 and 115lbs (okay, now I'm 14 weeks pregnant and 119lbs, but I was 115!) I usually get right around 100g protein per day, and before pregnancy, about 60-75g carbs. The rest is easily doable with fats... my macros were usually close to 65% fat, 15% carb, 20% protein. If anything budged, it was protein going up... some days I did 125g easily.
116 pounds at 25% bodyfat would mean 29 pounds of fat. At 20%, which is maybe more likely, you are at 23 pounds of fat.
Recommended protein intake is about .8g per pound of your lean body mass, which is 116-23=93 pounds. .8*93=74g of protein per day.
At 28 years old, at your same weight, with a medium build and light activity levels, this calculator would agree with me.
