In need of convincing evidence and research.

    Hello all,

I'm relatively new to the PB, still working my way through the archives and the book. I'm convinced, but my wife isn't, and we have had quite a few scuffles over her diet and that of our two children. Evidently all the evidence and science *I* can scrounge up isn't enough to support this lifestyle change.

So, here I am, in hopes of getting some help in finding hard proof that the PB is on target and good to go. Any assistance that can be provided would be greatly appreciated.

Tell her you'll talk to her about it after she's read Good Calories, Bad Calories by Gary Taubes - which has numerous peer-reviewed scientific articles. If she won't do that, tell her she isn't willing to read the evidence that this way of eating works.
Primal eating in a nutshell: If you are hungry, eat Primal food until you are satisfied (not stuffed). Then stop. Wait until you're hungry again. Repeat.

I don't have my copy of the PB with me but isn't there an exhaustive list of footnotes citing research papers in it?

Each chapter has an endnotes page with citations, etc.

The good news is: Every man has a built in barometer of heart health that tells you each morning whether things are going well or not. If your barometer turgidly points up then your heart is doing well, if you get no reading (like many aging men) most mornings then there are some issues.

Not reliable. I had a heart attack despite regular morning glory
Four years Primal with influences from Jaminet & Shanahan and a focus on being anti-inflammatory. Using Primal to treat CVD and prevent stents from blocking free of drugs.

Eat creatures nose-to-tail (animal, fowl, fish, crustacea, molluscs), a large variety of vegetables (raw, cooked and fermented, including safe starches), dairy (cheese & yoghurt), occasional fruit, cocoa, turmeric & red wine

Give her the perfect health diet and go over the arguments there point by point. Ask her to back up all of her assertions using evidence. Ask her to name people who eat all natural foods and give up grain and sugar and become less healthy - since there basically aren't any. Emphasize the nutrition density of your new diet and the other benefits. I've explained PB to a cardiologist and an endocrinologist now, and neither of them condemned it, in fact they were fairly interested.
If you are new to the PB - please ignore ALL of this stuff, until you've read the book, or at least http://www.marksdailyapple.com/primal-blueprint-101/ and this (personal fave): http://www.archevore.com/get-started/
