i have finally perfected a grain free porridge that is not made of nuts! while the "noatmeal" recipe is tasty, something about eating a big bowl of nut meal spooks me. the calorie count freaked me out, and i already eat nuts throughout the day and didn't want to over do it. so i made a hot cereal of hemp seeds, a little flax to thicken, and a little almond butter to smooth it out. this feels like a really good alternative to the nutty counterpart, and obviously a wonderful alternative to oats.
