    hemp seed porridge recipe success!

i have finally perfected a grain free porridge that is not made of nuts! while the "noatmeal" recipe is tasty, something about eating a big bowl of nut meal spooks me. the calorie count freaked me out, and i already eat nuts throughout the day and didn't want to over do it. so i made a hot cereal of hemp seeds, a little flax to thicken, and a little almond butter to smooth it out. this feels like a really good alternative to the nutty counterpart, and obviously a wonderful alternative to oats.
    check it out!

    grok on, cookie!

I think I'll make it when my mom comes Memorial Day weekend. She likes oatmeal, so I'll see if she'll try it out. She was rather impressed she dropped 5 lbs the last time she visited with me cooking

Oh yum! I have a couple of packages of hemp seeds, but all I ever do is sprinkle them over salad sometimes. Thanks for sharing!

Holy cow, that looks good! I miss "grainy" alternative breakfasts. I break down and toast 1 slice of Ezekial bread once in a while, but this looks so awesome. Almost makes me wish it was winter again - wait!! What am I saying??!!?? (smacks self upside of head!)

haha total facepalm, marthat! no more winter!
you could keep this springy with spring fruits. also, mornings are chilly enough that cracking the windows or stepping outside for breakfast with a hot bowl of cereal feels AWESOME. eating outside is the beez-kneez. grok would rock-it.

How interesting! Now I can't wait to see if my neighborhood health food store has hemp seeds. I was never looking for them before.

I was in my neighborhood health store shopping for coconut flakes and ended up getting followed around the store by a dirty white guy with the most massive dreadlocks I've ever seen who decided to explain why hemp seeds were the best food on earth. I've been biased against hemp seeds ever since and I've never even tasted them.
