    P90x videos and the WOW

    Primal Fuel
Just getting started and first post. On day 5 of eating primal.

Forgive me if this was already covered-

I have the P90x program, and completed it more than once. However, much of what Mark talks about in his book about "chronic cardio" I felt applied to the program somewhat for me, in terms of using it as a weight loss and general fitness routine. I'd "shred" myself physically and be completely worn out in 90 days. Made some fitness progress, but not very sustainable at that level of commitment.

I know Mark and Tony are buds so I'm not knocking the program- just want to ask-

Is it suitable to use "parts" of the P90x videos for a short WOW? For example, the first 15-20 minutes of Chest and Back, or the first 1/2 hour of plyo or Shoulders/ Arms?

I like the WOW's posted here (I did the "car push" the other day. it's great!), but sometimes I like a video "guide" to motivate.

I don`t see why not. When I first read the PB I questioned P90X and the chronic cardio thing but after some time I decided for me the assumption wasn`t right. There is really only 1 heavy cardio dvd in the classic version and that`s plyo. Most of the others re strength training. I don`t see 1 workout a week as being chronic. The lean version is a bit more cardio but I still don`t view that as chronic. If I was to do plyo every day that`s chronic in my book.

i love using parts of p90x. . . i went through the program and like you was exhausted after 90 days (before going pb)! now i incorporate a dvd once a week or so. sometimes i do the entire dvd or just parts of it. just do not do it everyday!

Same here. I've done several BeachBody programs. They are all pretty intense and, for me, not sustainable as a whole. But I think it's perfectly acceptable to use these workouts, just not necessarily as programmed. Make your own schedule.

I've never actually made it through the whole 90 days of P90X, didn't really need it as I was already in pretty good shape, but I borrowed it from a friend just to check it out. I have made it through all the DVDs atleast once, and they are all pretty solid. I incorperate parts of them into my current workout regime so I definitly say go for it. Just pick the exercises you like, and mix and match them.
