    Advice needed for baby daddy

    Shop Now
Happy Monday all- I have a couple of questions for all you primal parents our there.

I have an 8 month old awesome little lad named Liam. Mrs. ELCO and I usually feed him Earth's Best, but some of the flavors have grains or oats in them, so we steer clear of those.

Needless to say we're running out of varieties to choose from and would love to pick your brains to get some more ideas on primal foods for infants.

I want to start pureeing his meals so I know exactly what's going into his food so any ideas on how to incorporate convenience and quality seamlessly?

No idea is stupid in my book- so bring it!

    Thanks all!

My sister-in-law fed my nephew lots of pureed veggies (sweet potatoes, zucchini, carrots, eggplant) and pureed fruits too. Why don't you look at the ingredients list on an Earth's best box and just do the same but without the non-Primal things? Maybe that could work?
Do you feed your kid dairy? Maybe some homemade greek yogurt? I don't know if you're meant to give that to 8 m.o. kids though haha I'm just throwing out suggestions, I'm only 18!

You could make a sort of oatmeal like paste with mashed ripe bananas, coconut milk, a bit of cream? Once again I don't know if this is infant-friendly, but sounds good to me!

Thanks for the suggestions tanyayogi- love the brainstorming!

We do read the label- most of the veggies have just the veggie itself and water, so we stick to those. However they have some meat meals that have added grains in them (not sure why).

I'm the dad and I'm just as lost as you as what is appropriate to feed an 8month old. We talk to his pediatrician and get little help as she doesn't understand our primal leanings. She still recommends rice cereal if you get my drift.

I love the idea of fruit and coconut milk though, I'm going to try and put a concoction together that tastes (hopefully) good enough for him to chow it.

Meat wise you could grind some tender and pounded (like when raw, beat it) chicken and mushrooms and some full fat organic milk or cream and make a little protein paste?
What I meant about reading the label was to take the flavors you like from Earth's Best and recreate the recipe minus the oats/grains.
Are eggs ok for babies? Nuts? Haha woww babies sound complex! Good luck though.
You could also use chicken stock and some potatoes (if you're ok with white potatoes) and make a very thick chicken soup and puree veggies and add that?

Babies have been on the go for hundreds of thousands of years. Commercialised baby products for probably a hundred. I bet they ate much what their parents ate (minus the booze) but chopped really fine or pureed.

It is in the manufacturers interests to make new parents feel anxious and possibly guilty incase they get it wrong. But good food pureed is going to be better than a lot of the stuff that goes into those little jars.....

I've gotten mixed results researching the egg questions. I know with eggs and nuts there's a potential for food allergies, so not sure.

Along the lines of your thinking though if I pureed some meat with some stock and maybe add an egg- that would be a great meal that would keep him fuller longer I would think.

Thanks for knocking the dust off the cogs in my brain tanyayogi! Oh and babies are complex, but worth it for sure!

Anybody feed raw eggs to their infants?
