I should also mention that the dairy I'm eating is mostly cream and butter - VERY little cheese, except for the cheese on my egg white enchiladas for Cinco de Mayo.
I'm in my third week of eating primal, and up until three days ago (Tuesday), I was doing great! For the past three days, I've had terrible cravings, particularly for chocolate. I will describe the events leading up to these terrible cravings.
On Tuesday, I had my intro to kettlebell session in the morning and went to a party hosted by my professor in the evening. For the party, the class went to an Italian restaurant, where I ordered a Greek salad and a glass of red wine (first time drinking in almost two months). After dinner, I really wanted chocolate, like REALLY wanted it (I assume this is because of the wine) - so my husband drove me to WalGreens to get a bar of Lindt 80%, since we needed to stall before going to our professor's house for a party at his house. I ate about three squares. At my professor's house, I was offered a small vodka cranberry, which I accepted since I was feeling celebratory!
Later that evening...
I was laying in bed, unable to fall asleep, with a stomach-ache. I woke up at 5:30am completely wired and unable to return to asleep. I eventually got out of bed and studied for one of my finals - my eyes were puffy and was completely unmotivated to put make-up on. After my 8:00am final exam, I was incredibly hungry and made breakfast - noticed I was craving chocolate. I had a square, but that didn't satisfy me. I finished the bar that day, but was still craving like crazy. My stomach hurt all day too. Also, my whole body was sore from kettlebell training, especially my hamstrings.
Next day.
Cravings still going on. Not satisfied by a few squares. There was Dove chocolate in the freezer that my mom bought, and I couldn't resist - I'm a sucker for cold chocolate, the texture is amazing to me. Still sore from kettlebells - only in hamstrings.
Today.
I tried having strawberries and whipped cream to keep me away from chocolate, but that failed miserably. I had a total of 9 pieces of Dove chocolate today - better than yesterday. Not sore today from kettlebells, just a slight twinge in my hamstrings.
Am I craving because I'm sore? I haven't had a single craving since beginning primal. Was this a series of unfortunate events leading to these unstoppable cravings? I do have dairy in my diet, so would giving it up help? Also, I've been very hungry the past three days. I'm trying to lose weight! Help!
I should also mention that the dairy I'm eating is mostly cream and butter - VERY little cheese, except for the cheese on my egg white enchiladas for Cinco de Mayo.
Try coconut bark: My very simple recipe: Melt a couple of tablespoons of coconut oil in the mic for about 10 secs in a small dish. Add a tbsp or two of pure cocoa and a stevia packet or two. Mash together with a fork, smooth out again and put in the fridge. It's absolutely delicious, dark chocolate taste with the coconut creaminess, very satisfying. Eat straight from the fridge. Lick your fingers.
Could be Mg deficiency
A steak a day keeps the doctor away
Unless 100% chocolate sounds like the most delicious thing on the planet, you're not truly craving chocolate. You're either craving sugar, fat, or magnesium. For me, it's usually sugar. Good thing I keep a 99% scharffen berger on hand. It's actually pretty tasty once you get used to it!

I haven't had chocolate in any form (even 99%) in the past 2 weeks and as a consequence my cravings for crap have disappeared. Cacao itself probably excites old mental connections with comfort food for me, as chocolate was my favourite thing.
You lousy kids! Get off my savannah!
I did two months without any sugar to kill my sweet tooth. I can now drink 100% cocoa made on water without sweetening when I want chocolate - and I enjoy it. I still have problems if it's sugar and chocolate together - even 85% chocolate is has to be given away or I eat too much. It's a killer combination.
Evolutionary. Ideology that fits biology
Lindt's 85% chocolate bars have about 12.5 carbs in the entire bar. They'll also fill your chocolate craving reallll fast so you probably won't be eating the entire bar in one sitting. What I do is eat it with coconut butter, the combination of flavors is amazing and it's almost all fat!
