    Trader Joe's List

    Primal Fuel
Hi Everyone! First-time poster (*ack - the shyness*) with a question/favor to ask. My in laws are driving back from CA in a coupla weeks and always ask me what I want from the Trader Joe's, as they have yet to grace Austin with their presence (and probably won't, despite the rumours ). So what I was hoping to get from ya'll was a list of non-perishable primal foods that are AWESOME. Or even not-so-awesome. Kid stuff would be great, too, as we are trying to transition the 3 and 5 year-olds off freaking sandwiches. (Sorry Rivvin-- they aren't ready for the sammich.) If you have a second and can shoot off your go-tos, I would really appreciate it.

    Spanks!

I shop TJ's all the time. I dig the Omega-3 nut packs.

Check out their website and look at the Fearless Flyer

Hmm, non-perishable makes this tricky because I love lots of stuff there that wont survive a trip like that. They have a ton of good nut/mixed fruit combos that are good. If you like coffee their Bay Blend is amazing (Gotta grind it yourself or do it in the store) Last time I was there I got some almond butter with roasted flax seeds that is really good. Their house wine, Charles Shaw, is fantastic for the price. I'm sure I can come up with more if I put my mind to it, will add as I think of it. It wont travel unfortunatly, but they carry Kerry Gold butter, which is the best butter I have found.

I haven't really found too much stuff there with soy bean oil in it, guess it depends on what you like. They definitly like their canola oil though, they put it in a ton of stuff. Oh well, chalk it up to my 20% Oh, and they have an OK selection of personal products like Dr. Bronners soap.

Hmm... I don't buy much there that's non-perishable except coffee and nuts. I like the "Joe" variety of coffee (medium, smooth roast), and the roasted/salted almonds with 50% less salt (just the right amount of salt - I find a lot of roasted/salted almonds way too salty). I get raw nuts there, too.

What else ... almond butter. Non-phosphate dried plums. Super-stinky tuna (cat food) - the cat goes nuts for it so I can only assume it is AWESOME .

According to the Austinist we'll be getting a Trader Joe's in the foreseeable future. No dates mentioned, but with all the hype about TJ I'm excited.
