how to microwave a sweet potato like a boss page

If you are tired of peeling sweet potatoes with a peeler, here is a how I get the skin off:

1. rinse the sweet potato with water; do not dry
2. place it inside a brown paper lunch bag
3. nuke that tater in the bag

After it is cooked, the wet skin will separate from the potato and you can basically peel it all off with your fingers, like peeling a banana. It will be hot. Optionally, it helps to slice the skin with a knife first.

I hope this isn't one of those basic cooking things everybody else already knows about... I was pretty pleased with myself after I discovered it, lol. And knowing is half the battle.

I love them when the inside of the potato is all soft and fluffy and the skin just slightly crispy, with the potato cut in half and slathered in butter, mmmmm

I use my nuker every day. There's lots of things that will kill me long before my microwave does.

Cool, I'll definitely keep this technique in the back of my mind, even though right now I can't imagine a situation in which I'd use it. I almost always eat the skin on sweet potatoes... unless I'm mashing them, but then I can just microwave them, chop in half, and scoop out the middle. But if I ever need the potato intact and the skin removed, I'll give this a shot!

I actually have an aura intolerance, so I have to dispell it from my foods anyway, or else I get gas.
