BJJ people, please give me some hope

I tore my ACL and a ton of my meniscus cartilage because a bad bjj partner wrenched my leg while we were practicing and I am pretty much off the mats for about 6 months or so.

I was only 4 or 5 months into training but I was into it big time, going 4 - 5 days a week with a buddy of mine.

By the time I get better he is going to be a bluebelt and I am still going to be a whitebelt without a single stripe. How can I ever manage to catch up? Is it possible? What can I do to help me get back in there and not completely suck ass and get dominated by my friend for the rest of our mat time in there?

I know it sounds petty, but the thought that I am always going to be behind him because of the stupid fucker that broke my leg is driving me insane.

I read "Jiu Jitsu University" every night, watch youtube videos throughout the day, and every night I watch at least at two moves on a DVD set my instructor gave me called "White to Blue".

I guess I"m just antsy because I don't like being second best at anything.

edit: if it takes me 10 years to catch up, I fucking quit now, lol

You know you're a dirtyminded teenager when you instantly thought of 'bj-blowjob' when seeing the title to this thread. -_-

Wait, why the hell were they letting white belts use leg-locks? Unless there is a damn good reason, I'd look for a new school. White belts shouldn't be using leg-locks, and should be closely supervised when rolling.

I'd say that would be even worse.

Some should have been looking out for you with the knee bars. But that's water under the bridge. As far as staying focused and improving watch what Rener Gracie has to say about his devastating back injury - YouTube - Core Strengthening - Lower Back Injury Prevention with Rener Gracie

Also, my instructor has has torn ACLs and meniscus damage in both knees and he's back on the mat kicking ass.

    Good luck.
