not exactly, but i've heard of similar living arrangements in middle eastern countries which are basically large townhomes with interior connecting entrances. again, it would really depend on the personalities. i know certain people who don't understand the concept of boundaries.

we do someday plan to build a house, and include a mother-in-law apartment on the property. the husband and i are both more-or-less the most responsible offspring of our respective parents, and with five aging parents (his two and my three), we know that eventually we're going to have to care for them. hopefully they'll stagger nicely.

I think it's awesome that you both look at things from a long view in terms of family relations. If you're open and honest and they're morons it should work out. They should respect the fact that physical intimacy is the cornerstone of a good relationship, especially for the long term.

This also. Definitely.
Husband and I are very close, best friends, still a great sex life after about 15 years... and we spend most of our time at opposite ends of 2k sqft. We like our space.

Though we are thinking of adding a 3rd to our home... basically husbands oldest friend 20odd years... he had Thyroid cancer and is going blind from Graves disease. Very glad we have a split plan home with a master suite on each end.

So not true... I spent 20 years on an 85acre farm... living with only 3 other people on it. If people don't want to leave you in peace, there is no PEACE when you share a roof.
