Where do you buy your flours (almond, coconut)? Am I overpaying?

    Shop Now
I have been purchasing my coconut and almond flour at my local health food store for $13 for 16 oz. I have a feeling I am overpaying, as a quick online search provided several cheaper options (prices before shipping). How much are you guys paying? Is there a great site online that has quality products and cheap shipping?

    *cough* Bobs Red Mill

my local Sunflower Market just had a great sale. I got coconut flour, almond flour, hempseed protein, chia, and a few other things for less than $50 total.

Tropical Traditions has a very good rep around here (haven't tried it myself) and has coconut flour $15/kilo (2.2lbs) regularly, currently on sale for 11.99.

Trader Joe's has almond meal for (IIRC) $6 and change per lb; almond meal is almond flour from unblanched (with skin) almonds.

    HTH!

I buy from Nuts Online. I use a fair amount of almond meal and freeze it. I buy it 25lbs at a time and it's 3.99 a pound. I can't do coconut flour but I believe you could save quite a bit buying bulk.

Dr. Bork Bork: Bob's Red Mill is the brand I've been buying for $13 a lb! Tropical Traditions looks like a significantly cheaper option for coconut flour, thanks!

Blackcatbone: Thanks for the suggestion, I'll have to check it out!

I just bought a packet of Bob's Red Mill coconut flour from the supermarket at 4.50$ or something like that. For almond meal, Trader Joe's has a cheap version. You can also get a bunch of almonds and grind them up finely if you have a good food processor.
Also see if you can find any big Whole Foods or health food stores in your area that sells stuff from bulk bins - you might be able to find almond flour there as well.

Pretty cheap from Amazon. I bought these about two months ago. Good fine flour.
