Woman sues theme park for witnessing death...

I think this makes an interesting topic for a paleo board and would like to hear other folk's opinion on this.

Not talking about the family of the child who died, but the woman who is suing because she 'witnessed' the child's death. Have we become such a clean and sanitized society that we should be compensated every time we see something bad happen? Is not life by it's very nature cruel, harsh, and traumatic at times?

This is one of many cases that reminds me of how far removed we have become from the realities of being human. People die. Sometimes people die in gruesome ways. Should we all be compensated for that?

What do you think of this lawsuit?

Oh, in that case, I have several lawsuits I would like to bring against the U.S. Army. Seriously, this case should get tossed out and the woman should have to pay a fine for wasting the court's time.

Also, from reading the article...the kid stood up - there was no mechanical or human error. So the kid unfastened it? wriggled out? Assuming there had been an emergency stop would the kid not have gone flying and probably died anyway? I'm also wondering who puts a 3 year old on a roller coaster.

I feel for the parents' loss but better judgment should have been exercised.

My problem with this is... people shouldn't be sheltered from death... they should be taught to accept and understand it. Paleo man surely witnessed some horrific events... people being eaten alive by wolves or grizzly bears or the like. When did we become such a 'sensitive' society that we feel we should be compensated for witnessing death?

It's totally ridiculous for this woman to think she should profit off of this. Ugh. No wonder north americans are so terrified of death.

Lame. It would be more reasonable to ask for the park to pay for therapy instead.

The thing that bothers me of course... when did life become so clean and sanitized that people can sue just for seeing something aweful? Life sucks, people die, we all see terrible things... buck up!
