    diabetes or pre-diabetes u can't eat just one meal a day?

    Omg now I am freaked out. I just researched/read a whole other forum on some other site that was all about how people with pre- diabetes and diabetes cannot eat one or 2 meals a day because it messes with your blood sugar or something and makes your health worse! I have IR which pretty much is pre-diabetes as i understand. AM I doing more harm than good now? I usually eat 1-2 times a day, sometimes 3 since going primal. This is freaking me out. If this is true , I did not know this. Sorry if this is covered somewhere!

    Or maybe I just have to stop researching so much and getting anxious about what's right and what's wrong for health!

    While one meal a day may be okay for people who are already healthy, it is a big mistake for people who are sensitive to levels of blood sugar such as diabetics and pre-diabetics. Blood sugar has a direct connection with mood, ability to concentrate and hunger. The absorption rates of carbohydrates can be somewhat control by eating low glycemic carbs. Blood sugar levels are affected throughout the day by food, exercise, stress and must be controlled through regulation of food, even for those who use medication and insulin. Diabetics simply cannot eat one meal per day and expect to stay healthy.

    So the "one meal a day" thing must be considered in light of one's own health. If you are sensitive to changing levels of blood sugar, lack of appropriate amounts of carbs at specific times will only result in problems. And all the meditation you can do will not save your eyes, kidneys or legs.

    You should probably get your insulin sensitivity good before you IF, that tends to be the consensus. I think that if you are running on more fat it is better, though. Your glucose needs will be lower and as long as you have a reasonable amount of glut4 activity it probably won't be much of an issue.

    How do you feel when you IF? Best to get a glucose monitor to know for sure how you're doing.

    Well, I have Insulin resistance and I usually feel better when I don't eat, eat meat, keep carbs low, no sugar. IR is pre-diabetes i thought?I have High insulin but not high glucose.

    So its ok if I ate one meal a day if it were veggies/meat/fat?

    If you have high fasting insulin but normal fasting glucose you have mild IR, and it's technically not pre-diabetes. (Have you had a glucose tolerance test? That can be another way of 'diagnosing' pre-diabetes). For some reason doctors don't take high fasting insulin seriously at all, but the good news is that it will be easier for you to increase insulin sensitivity since you didn't cross that 'threshold' into dysglycemia, so there's no need to get freaked out based on the results of those who are actually pre-diabetic or diabetic. I think it would be fine for you to eat one meal a day (as long as it's something you actually feel comfortable doing and not something you're trying to force on yourself for faster weight loss), but there's also nothing wrong with two or three as long as you're eating real primal food.

    I'm T2 diabetic and do just fine on 1-2 meals a day. It's when I go to extremes (like eating meat only) that my sugar goes haywire.

    I'm am (was?) IR and was hypoglycemic (that for sure is past tense) with a hemoglobin A1c of 6.1 when I started, now 5.2 and with a fasting glucose in the low 90s. In the beginning, I was eating three times a day because I would be get shaky/weak/headache-y if I didn't. The hypoglycemia cleared up pretty quickly, and then I was able to eat twice a day w/o feeling off. It's not advisable to begin IFing right away, especially in our case. Be sure you are eating protein/fat/carbs together every time you eat. Why are you only eating once a day? If it were me, I wouldn't be doing that.

    I've been on the border of diabetes too,due to candida&Lyme. Strange thing is most of the time I feel lethargic&anxious/nervous but when I eat something which is considered highcarb like beets,pumpkin or sweet potato my mood mentally lifts and I feel more positive and like doing various things. Fruit can sometimes mess with me,by making me binge (though I don't know if that's bc my body want to regain some fat since my upperbody half is too low in fat.) which stresses me mentally and gives me anxious feelings of fear of getting fat again.
    IF is not an option since it stresses my CNS/body even more.

    I just don't know what to do anymore...
